Kansas State 2000
I'm heading to Colorado Springs later this month for a HS graduation. After that we plan on hitting Pikes Peak and the surrounding area for a couple days with the kids. Any advice on where to go and WHAT??? to see? Skilly
Chapel Hills Mall If you are staying at the north end of the Springs, this is the Mall to go to if you want to shop, or see a movie or something. This is my hometown, and I wasted many hours at this mall in the 80s. Downtown is kind of dumpy now, IMO. The Garden of the Gods is spectacular, especially during the sunrise and sunsets. Hopefully you'll get some sunny weather. North of the Springs is the Air Force Academy---not sure if you can drive around base as a tourist (since 9/11). Head into the mountains for some fun. Cripple Creek is cool, and the Royal Gorge as someone mentioned, is REALLY cool, but pretty far from the Springs if I recall. Have fun. Sugar Magnolia
One big strike against "The Springs" as a place to move was the dumpy downtown. If you have time, maybe drive to Crested Butte?

But do have some friends in Canon City who I used to visit all the time. From what I recall, the Gorge is no more then an hour drive from Colorado Springs, less maybe. I think... Codwagon
I said it was beautiful. I wasn't implying that it had a mini ferris wheel and a ball crawl.
i_am_the_swammi
Not sure where you are staying, but our company just bought the Wyndham hotel and converted it to beautiful Marriott, right at the base of Pikes Peak. Let me know if you need a room there...can prob swing u a discount of some kind. Check out the Olympic skating training center downtown....cool pics throughout the facility of past champs. Garden of the Gods is very cool. Other than that, head into the mountains for a long, beautiful drive.
Skilly
If you are hungry, check out Fargos Pizza Company on Platte Ave. It's a landmark in Colo. Spgs, and they have great pizza. It's got an old west saloon type feel, a game room for the kids, and it's just a great atmosphere. I couldn't find a link for the place, but if you talk to any of the locals out there, I'm sure they would give it a good review also.
