mbarton11
Need some ideas as to where to hold our draft. Going to the same sports bar and grill is getting a little old. We have had it in a suite at a baseball game but the game was over before our draft so that kind of sucked and we got kicked out of our suite. Give me some good ideas. BeeR
Somebody's house. Preferably a basement in a guy's house where his wife understands that kids aren't welcome there for a few hours and guys can drink swear belch etc w/o worrying about who's around. Plus can't beat the price. Never got the holding it at a bar routine.

Donutrun Jellies
I prefer a warehouse by the docks. The lighting is seedy, the neighbors are homeless, and the chances of being disrupted by some idiot's bachelor party are minimal. But then again, free leagues suck. loaf
we are looking into some new venues as well. Bars here have gone non smoking and that ain't good for our crew. Might have to be someone's home...but there's always that one goof that "forgets" his beer and sponges all night
Avernus
host it at a bar if you know the owner... this is what we do... we keep the drinks coming....it's their only chance that I might slip up..
Flypaste
We hold ours at a private club. Three of our team owners (self included) in my local are members at the American Legion. Most private clubs have a seperate hall or private room that they use for meetings and such. We have the event catered and the member's bar is down stairs so we can get beer or whatever anytime during the draft. Maybe one of your team owners is a member of some such club - American Legion, VFW, Fire Hall, Moose Club, Kiwanis Club, Elk Lodge, Social Club, Knights of Columbus, etc... Good luck. The Vatican Hitsquad
our owners are spread out nationwide, 6 in CT, 3 in NY, 1 in Philli, 1 in CA and 1 in DC. So 10 of us gather in a Hotel room in CT, while the owners from DC and CA draft live over internet
mbarton11
Some Ideas we have come up with are: 1. Getting a privite room at a local casino, I live in OKlahoma, lots of Indain Casinos. WE can a take a break and go bet the ponies or play a little blackjack. 2. Getting a suite at the local Race track(Remington park), a little more money but buffet and open bar included. tbimm
host it at a bar if you know the owner... this is what we do... we keep the drinks coming....it's their only chance that I might slip up.. The owner of the bar we hold ours at is in the league and most of the members are bartenders there. Food and drinks are on the house. Cant beat it for 4 hours of fun! Trots
We're doing it in Atlantic City this year. Team owners from New York, Philly, Baltimore, and Pittsburgh will venture to the Borgata for a solid draft weekend.
cliaz
We hold it now at our league treasurer’s house [speaking of which Loaf I gots to get you some loot] and each year it gets more and more elaborate. This year we are all pitching into have an authentic Polynesian pig roast. They will come out to the house with a pig that has been baking in a sand oven for 10 hours and bring all the fixings. I cant wait.

If you need a substitute owner for your league, let me know. Edited June 17, 2007 by SheikYerbuti

Terminal Frost
Never understood the whole bar thing myself. What we do is set up the house as an actual draft just like the NFL at Radio City Music Hall. Tables for each owner with their names on the seats and their team logos on the table. Digital clock on the wall so the owner and everyone else can see the time remaining for each pick. Of course the draft board hanging with a neutral party preferably a young lady in a bikini top and short shorts. Oh and this does not offend the ladies we have in each league because well they are partial to women along with being married to us. (Trust me this is not a lie. Some of us have been blessed with our beatiful wives that also like beautiful women also.) If weather is nice which it always has been we hold outside so smokers are not having to miss picks by going outside to smoke. Have a keg on tap and a spread of food for the break between the eigth and ninth rounds. Also then when the draft is over food, drink and a lot of analyzing of the draft board afterwards. Then start the party with horseshoes, music and just your basic debauchery. Reason being it is fantasy football and the NFL starts the following week. Been doing it this way for ten years. We make draft day into a whole weekend affair. Draft midday Saturday and just party the rest of the weekend. Terminal Frost

If you have an opening, give me a shout. Always wanted to have a deaft at a casino but the guys in my league aren't into it.

mbarton11
Terminal Frost- im my league you get fined $20 bucks and must buy a round of drinks if your wife/girlfriend even shows her face at the draft. I am not kidding, it has happend. The money goes into the pot for the total points winner, and I ordered a double crown and coke for my free drink. One guy got married and none of us had meet his wife so after the draft he asked everyone if she could come to the bar to meet all of us. We agreed, so after the draft she came by but only for 30 min. then she had to go.

Suture
We do ours at a sports bar still, Chaamps in Pentagon City, to be exact. It's a great place, I'm sure a few of us are looking for change, but it's difficult to find a neutral location that everyone can get to, since we have people coming from all over Northern VA and one or two in Maryland. I thin it'd be great to host a cookoiut or something.
Bronco Billy
Hold it at a local titty bar & rent one of the off-duty dancers for a few hours & use her chest as a draft board. Oh - and don't invite your wives/girl friends, even if they are incredibly beautiful.
