McNasty
Don't bother asking who I am... I don't even know. Hey, everbody. It's been a long time. What's happening? I have a week long training in Denver next week to learn how to do brain surgery, and wanted to know if anybody wanted to sign up for a free craniotomy while I was in town? Actually, I was wondering if some of the local folks would drop some knowledge policy-style on the places to go and the stuff to see. Unfortunately, no Rockies games while I am in town. What are the cool restaurants and bars in town? What are the must-see spots in Denver? Where are the cool hiking trails to see the Rockies? Also, if any of you local fellars want to get together and grab a beer or twenty, I'd definitely be down for that. Hollah at yo boy.

McNasty
Az! I was hoping you'd be around. I am not even sure yet where it is... the Marriott Courtyards in Louisville, CO? I assume that's close? I am going with another guy from our OR and we have a rental car. Plus, he's had gastric bypass surgery, so he's my designated dumbass...errrrrm, driver. Cool, thanks for the heads-up. Truthfully, I am just happy to be going to the big city, but I've never been to Denver. Living here, the options on eating and seeing stuff can get pretty limited. I heard there was a cool Morrocan joint in Denver, and a good Ethiopian place. I fly in Sunday afternoon, have conferences all day Monday thru Thursday, until about 5, and don't fly out until Saturday morning. I definitely want to see what Denver is all about. I think I might save the hiking for Friday, when i can do a whole day jank. But, the lack of oxygen up at altitude scares me, with my pack-a-day habit. My buddy lives in Greeley, and used to be stationed at Fort Collins (that's the base in CO Springs, right?) so, he said he and his wife would take me out to show me some of the cool spots for hiking. I'd love a night of huddle-inspired drinking and debauchery, if you, Bier and Atomic and anyone else wanted to show up. Who else is local to Denver... cue BigJohn? Jimmy Neutron? probably not a big drinker. broncos can come, if he can score a fake ID. Hell, even Thews can come, if he brings his superhotexgirlfriend and elf shoes. McNasty
bastage! i am now down in denver. would love to try to grab a drink with you. Bier! What's up, brother? Did you open your own place in Denver? Had to be some kind of special offer to lure you off the slopes, i imagine. If you come out for a drink, I'll even let you off the hook, and not put you to work in the kitchen to pay off our bar tab. Thanks for the restaurant list. If you had to choose a really good ethnic restaurant, (asian, pan-asian, greek, middle eastern, african, whatever) where would you go? Azazello1313
Thanks for the restaurant list. If you had to choose a really good ethnic restaurant, (asian, pan-asian, greek, middle eastern, african, whatever) where would you go? there are some good ethiopian places on east colfax. greek as well. a great indian place downtown at 15th and blake. there is an AWESOME middle eastern place called "damascus" in a run-down strip mall on colorado blvd south of evans. these places aren't all that close to where you're staying. like i said, around louisville is mostly new development, which means mostly chains as far as eating options. there's a very good vietnamese place in boulder called chez thuy. an excellent chinese restaurant in denver called "the imperial". one of the better thai restaurants in town about two blocks from my house in lakewood. McNasty
I could help you out with the hiking trails... Boulder is the best place to go IMO. Yes, please. Do you know of any online maps? I don't even know what to start looking for; I really just kind of want to bliss out on the mountains and dig on the whole "Rocky Mountain High" vibe. which probably won't be hard, considering I'll most likely be hyperventilating as soon as the plane touches down. Azazello1313
the trailhead to one really cool hike that's pretty easy is right here, less than an hour drive from where you're staying. i'd do it on a weekday if you can though, 'cause it's kinda crowded on weekends. you have to pay the park fee to park in the main lot, but if you're cheap you can park outside the park and walk in (couple extra miles). (edit: for more info, google "ouzel falls" or "ouzel lake") Edited July 6, 2007 by Azazello1313

McNasty
A big hugh welcome brack! thanks, rr! good to see you're still haunting these hallowed halls. the trailhead to one really cool hike that's pretty easy is right here, less than an hour drive from where you're staying. i'd do it on a weekday if you can though, 'cause it's kinda crowded on weekends. you have to pay the park fee to park in the main lot, but if you're cheap you can park outside the park and walk in (couple extra miles). (edit: for more info, google "ouzel falls" or "ouzel lake") thanks, Az, that looks promising. that might be the friday gig. hopefully, i'll be acclimated by then. the smoking thing really is worrying me, last time i was up at altitude in So Lake Tahoe, i hung out in the casino drinking jack and cokes and chain smoking while i was losing all my cash playing blackjack, by the end of the night, i thought somebody tied my chest and head up with iron bands... am hoping to avoid that happenging again... but not so much that i'll quit smoking. be sure and check out the Ethiopian buffet on Kolfax. Azz can hook you up with the appropriate clothing. A buffet? Is their chili mac as good as it is at Ryan's? if it is, the only clothing i'll need is some assless chaps and a lot of baby wipes. I've always used just terrain maps and made up my own trails. Google should be helpful though. Are you a big hiker? If so Bear would be my choice.
