darin3
I have to go to the Philly/DEL/DC area in a few weeks. Should I assume I'm gonna get my first driving-in-snow experience?
Egret
I have to go to the Philly/DEL/DC area in a few weeks. Should I assume I'm gonna get my first driving-in-snow experience? As long as the roads have been plowed, salted, and sanded, you'll be fine. Driving during a snow storm sucks no matter what your experience is. rocknrobn26
A snowstorm is not like a rainstorm. Very true! Rent a Hummer or some such. Remember: Skid to the right (front skid) turn to the left! And vicey versy! If you got anti-skid brakes.....mash the pedal, don't pump 'em! The car will figger it out and the pulse thru the pedal will shock the crap out of you! Pay the insurance! Then you can hit anything! We have flurries coming! Bier Meister
be very carefull with your braking and don't use cruise control. if you rent a 4x4, don't get too comfortable (overconfident). when i did the breck to vail commute 80-90% of vehicles on the side of the road were suv/4x4. Just be careful of the freezing rain that disquises the roads as safe when there is really a layer of ice on them you can't see. But I'm sure you'll be find. Renting a snow / ice safe vehicle might be recommended. Edited November 6, 2007 by chiefjay
