McBoog
Climate Change: Not every scientist is part of Al Gore's mythical "consensus." Scientists worried about a new ice age seek funding to better observe something bigger than your SUV — the sun. Solar activity fluctuates in an 11-year cycle. But so far in this cycle, the sun has been disturbingly quiet. The lack of increased activity could signal the beginning of what is known as a Maunder Minimum, an event which occurs every couple of centuries and can last as long as a century. Such an event occurred in the 17th century. The observation of sunspots showed extraordinarily low levels of magnetism on the sun, with little or no 11-year cycle. This solar hibernation corresponded with a period of bitter cold that began around 1650 and lasted, with intermittent spikes of warming, until 1715. Frigid winters and cold summers during that period led to massive crop failures, famine and death in Northern Europe. bushwacked
Is this typical McBoog stuff? Drivel for the easily led? Slanted moranic editorials that would make the likes of Michael Moore blush? Is this from youtube or a chain e-mail?
AtomicCEO
I have it on good authority that there are some people who don't believe in gravity. I tend to go with the majority on this one.
bushwacked
I have it on good authority that there are some people who don't believe in gravity. I tend to go with the majority on this one. I've also seen that Science has indicated that black people don't really have an extra jumping bone in their feet or a speed muscle in their hammy. I've got sources that indicate otherwise though. Edited February 9, 2008 by bushwacked

bushwacked
So, I got bored and read the editorial...... Who wrote it? Not a trick question by any means but they didn't credit the author. Their mission statement thing said something about pimping the stock market. ETA: Why does the homepage show Jimmy Carter, the Clinton's, and apparently other people with hooks in their mouths and John McCain with a cane around his neck? CaP'N GRuNGe
I love how the anti-science people have turned the argument on global warming from: a: it does not exist, the earth is not getting warmer to b: it exists, but humans aren't responsible Who cares who's responsible. What's more important, is what will the effects be from things like a complete melting of the polar ice caps, is there anything we can really do about it, and at what cost/benefit?
