keggerz
word--the fabled German autobahns are a hell of a lot narrower and winding than our interstate highways and they rarely have a shoulder to speak of on either side of the lanes--yet the past few times I have driven on them it seemed perfectly reasonable to drive 140 kmh (87 mph) and when I slowed down to 130 it felt like I was crawling (and even when I went up to 165 (102 mph) it didn't seem that bad (and this was in a Corolla)).(Although if I am honest, I really think their ought to be some sort of a speedlimit on the autobahns--I have seen more than a few near misses that would have been catastrophic (typically caused when somebody going around 150 tries to pass someone going 140 only to have someone going about 210 come flying up behind them in the left lane).) wiegie
[TimC] [/TimC] uh, that was part of my point (i.e. that I felt like it was reasonable to drive a car as basic and no-frills as a Corolla that fast on the autobahn)

wiegie
German is spoken in Austria. Randall
German is spoken in Austria. Â Â Yes but speaking german and being german are different. We speak english but don't honor the Queen. Monster's claim was because they both spoke it they could be nazis. Germany and Austria are different even though Hitler did pressure Austria to unify with Germany. Â Austria wasn't a willing partner with germany and wasn't a nazi state. I grew up in Milwaukee and many of my friends parents spoke german too but weren't nazis. My mother grew up there and her parents weren't nazis. Â How many of the german people were?

Ursa Majoris
About 10% of the German population at the peak of Nazi popularity. That kinda makes it difficult to explain this: Â Party........... Vote percentage (change) ........Seats (change) National Socialist German Workers Party (NSDAP) 43.9% +10.8% ............................288 +92 Â And that was in 1933. After six years of propaganda, the annexation of the Sudetenland, Austria and the Saarland, plus two years of nothing but victory but before the true horrors began to emerge, I'm willing to bet that number was WAY more than 50% Edited April 3, 2008 by Ursa Majoris

They won 33 of 35 constituencies and polled well over 50% in areas east of the Elbe. Turnout was 88% of the electorate. Scroll down three quarters of the page. The answer is about 8.5 million people out of about 80+ million were members of the Nazi party.. That is the question I was answering. TimC
Any car under 300 horsepower should be banned on any road with a speed limit over 50 MPH. Keep the minivans on the side streets and out the way. Â The bigger shame is there are actually men that drive minivans without children in the car. Those people should be castrated...like most Kalifornians. McBoog
I thought Arnold was a republican. Â Wellllll, yeah, kinda. He's a Kaliphornican Republican. That does not mean in particular conservative. It is a State that is out of control and facism is the governmental approach (agenda is driven largly by special interest groups from all sectors). The corporate bodies decide how everyone should be. As long as you fit into one of those and don't deviate too much from it, you'll be fine. Â I am soooo glad to be out of Kaliphornica (not that Northern Virginia is that much better). Donutrun Jellies
here is a somewhat more neutral account of the same bust...so, all of the citations were for actual violations (not imagined future ones), and the bust was predicated on regular racing that had been going on at the same location. Maaaaan, the facts just wreck the nazi conspiracy theory antics of the haters in here. Toooo bad -- the paranoia and whining was funny until the facts put a damper on it .. tbimm
That's like Minority Report and these guys are all members of the Bureau of Future Crime. I would fight that for sure. To the best of my knowledge you cannot be ticketed or your property taken on the suspicion of you doing something illegal with it. That violates our constitutional rights of illegal search and seizure. Now if the item itself is illegal then that is a different story. For example: long tube headers on a car are illeegal because they do not pass Kailifornia's emissions standards. If these vehicles are parked and not proven to have been driven on the street they are not illegal even by Kalifornias emission standards!
