yo mama
On the bright side, by the time you-know-who is done with us and you're ready to retire, you should be able to buy the entire state of Michigan for 24 cents. Wasn't Matt Millen was fired last year?

wiegie
What's incredible is that the S&P 500 dropped 56.8% from October 2007, but is now up 66.5% from its low earlier this year!!! (of course, for those of you who are bad at math, this means that the S&P 500 is still down 28% from October 2007) Edited December 31, 2009 by wiegie
TimC
The lost decade. Those that pulled all the money out for Y2K 10 years ago today to spend on hookers and blow were really the smart ones.

Ursa Majoris
Rate of Return for the period beginning December 31, 2008 and ending December 31, 2009 is 53.97% Does that count the return on shares purchased this year? Presumably yes. Also, are you counting the money you've contributed this year? I usually do my own calculation based on total value at end of year minus total value at start of year minus amount of contributions = actual return. This leaves in the returns on this years purchases and leaves out the cost of those purchases.
