Grits and Shins
Some of you old timers will know where I'm coming from ... but all those bats are going to pay off, at least in regards to my daughter. First college look softball tournament was last weekend (in Houston). She had contacts from three division III school before she got home from the tournament and another two contacts since. She is pretty stoked, especially since one of the schools interested is her top choice for academics AND softball. I'm pretty stoked because somebody else is offering to pay for part of her college! We'll be in Georgetown (Texas) next week, in San Antonio the week after and in Arkansas some time after that. I'm not sure what I'll do when she's gone off to school though ... ... guess I'm getting old.

Grits and Shins
Softball coaches at D3 schools look for athletes that fit their needs AND meet their academic standards. When they find these student athletes they are invited to join the team on an academic scholarship. My daughter scored 32 on the ACT and 1930 on the SAT which means the D3 schools are very interested in her. She is also being recruited academically ... for instance Princeton has called her several times based on her academic merit.
Grits and Shins
Congrats and shoot for the stars.. D1 all the way baby!!!! My daughter doesn't want to attend a big school. She likes the family feeling of a small school ... thus the D2/D3 schools.

Grits and Shins
Princeton is a small school The problem with Princeton is location. She doesn't really want to leave Texas and if she does she is really only interested in bordering states. But above all she doesn't want to go somewhere where it gets cold.
