First acceptance letter

Yesterday was the day ... my daughter got her first college acceptance letter. From UTD.

Princeton continues to recruit her academically ... she doesn't seem interested. I think at this point she has narrowed it down to two schools ... of course she has only been to three schools. Several others are showing interest and we are going to make her keep all options open at this point.

Congrats. I don't regret where I went to college but I wish I would have taken the decision a little more seriously. Where you go to college has a huge impact on the rest of your life in my opinion (people you meet, places you may end up living/working etc..)

Of course thats very hard to understand as a 17-18 year old (hingsight is 20/20).

My son also was recruited by Princeton and Stanford but he chose UCSB because of there top notch engineering program. It was his first choice and nothing else seemed to matter. I think he made the right decision. He's having a blast his freshman year, albeit he's been pounded with hard classes. "Its engineering son...duh"

Completely agree. I actually only applied to one school (Wisconsin) and, while I absolutely loved it, should've expanded my search if only to seek confirming info. It does make a difference, something I'm certainly seeing now in grad school.

Way to horn in on Grit's brag time, taz. Now we get to hear about all the athletic scholarship offers.

Way... to... go.

 Hope she gets her top choice.

My daughter finished her applications for Grad School last week. Her choices in order are:

Yale, U of Cincinnati, Juilliard and U of Maryland, She was going to apply to a school in England but decided not too.

My cousin is a freshman at UCSB as well, there on an athletic ride for water polo.
