Scooby's Hubby
I think that most incumbents will get their handed to them this cycle. In both parties. It is fascinating to watch. This will be a good year for statistics and voter turnout. Which voters (minoorities, old vs young, etc.) will come to the polls compared to when the last presidential election was? What states will have changes like in Mass.? All will be very interesting to watch, but ultimately the politicians will have to work and create, and if there are a bunch of new members then how productive will the new congress be? evil_gop_liars
I just wanted to note that Tosberg's post has added more to the conversation than any other post in this thread. Hey, even a blind man can see a tsunami!! Edited June 3, 2010 by evil_gop_liars

I think that you will see record numbers of latinos vote in border states against the GOP after Arizona's immigration law. But sadly enough most primaries so far have seen moderates locked in battles with fringe-fueled contenders. I sincerely doubt that a lot of work will get done if a lot of far-right and far-left politicians get elected. I fear it will further separate the divide in the parties and strangle any kind of consensus-building that will actually help America. the production will depend on the party leadership and the staff's that they hire. darin3
complaining about others doing something you yourself are doing in the very same sentence, that is pretty impressive! Um, point me to where I was insulting again?

Azazello1313
I know this isn't the core of what you are trying to get at, but you can't think that Palin and Beck are good for the GOP or even the country, can you? I wish palin would go away because she's relatively dumb and inarticulate. at best, at this point, she's like a right-wing oprah. blech. I think she did a pretty good job in alaska, before she became the object of every left-winger in the country's hard-on, and for the most part I am pretty OK with the "strands" of conservatism she tries to represent (though I could do with a little less of the religiosity). but as a national figure, she leaves a lot to be desired, for sure. beck, I don't really have much regard for one way or another, because I rarely hear or see him. I do wonder if all the people who hate him so much actually listen to him, or they just grab the outrageous soundbytes, removed from context, that they are pointed to by their own opposing propagandists. Has anyone here actually defended Keith Olbermann so that people trot him out like a trophy? Seriously? has anyone here actually defended glenn beck and trotted him out like a trophy (whatever the hell that's supposed to mean)? Even as a "swipe", it's hardly insulting. Come on, you're better than that, Azz. Or an observation of every other thread in the tailgate? And if you reversed the sides it would still hold true . . . . Pretty much. And I'm sure the way-lefties could be a little less snarky in their comments, too. It just seems like the right side feels the need to insult, whereas the left (at least here) is just a snarky bunch. Just an observation from somewhere in the middle. evil_gop_liars
here you go. As far as I can tell, the only reason you havent been banned is because this is a Republican forum and yer a Republican. Otherwise, I cant understand how you can write the things you do and only have the threads locked. You must receive some kind of preferential treatment from the powers that be. Other political threads with no name calling whatsoever get deleted, and yer sickening foul garbage just gets locked and you are allowed to stay here and keep at it. That is pathetic. Nice find. bpwallace49
here you go. As far as I can tell Zeke, you really have very little grasp of these issues. You just enjoy the bravado of backing an apparent winner. That you would spout off about them so frequently when there are so many more people who are informed about them that you are, is the reason why you get insulted. There are a lot of smart people here. People who will gladly have an intelligent debate with you. But as of yet, you have not proven yourself capable of intelligent debate. You just want to insult "the libs" for reasons you don't even understand. I don't even engage half of the time in debates on these boards, because I doubt that I have anything of substance to contribute. Watching you post, however, has forced me to redefine my standards for "relevant and substantive input." At their best, these boards provide for an excellent opportunity for the exchange of ideas and intellectual discourse. At their worst, they are an opportunity to display ignorance and call someone halfway across the world an a$$munch. Stop regurgitating that which you see on cable news. Read a book, think for yourself, and I think you will find these boards an excellent sounding board for whatever you come up with. Thank you for the link Az! I am really surprised that anyone would support Olbermann that much, but he is more like the "news" people on Fox. I see Glenn Beck and Rush being balanced by Jon stewart . . they are all entertainers. Olberman is more like a broadcaster on Fox that interjects his political opinion into the forum of reporting the news, which really shouldnt be done. And thanks for more info on good ol Zeke . . . Classic stuff right there . . .

I'd also Say that Olbermann and O'Really are pretty comparable. stewart is actually funny, and while he clearly has lefty sympathies, he's not just a shill. I think I saw something recently were rush limbaugh called o'reilly "ted baxter". man, that is right on the money. the other one I really can't stand is sean hannity. those two, and olbermann and maher, are just four of the most gigantic doouschebags on the planet. from what little I hear, I actually don't mind beck and limbaugh so much, somehow their schtick seems a little more self-aware and funny to me. Scooby's Hubby
I completely agree on both comparisons. +2 those guys only care about making money, their TV show and/or the next book they can write with their Athenae-eating grin on the cover. TimC
As a rightie, I like Jon Stewart because he is actually funny and entertaining unlike Maher and Olbermann. Plus, Stewart is not as much of a liberal sheep like those two also.

I can't see anyone on the right getting away with saying this; BILL MAHER, HBO: I thought when we elected a black president, we were going to get a black president. You know, this is where I want a real black president. I want him in a meeting with the BP CEOs, you know, where he lifts up his shirt where you can see the gun in his pants. That's — "we've got a [expletive] problem here?" Shoot somebody in the foot I agree about hannity, o'reilly, olberman and Maher though. Hannity is way too smarmy and a horrible broadcaster, he "you know's" about every 10 seconds. Beck is a little dramatic and hyper but he's very effective - which is why everyone on the left hates him so, same with Limbaugh. Which is why the left is trotting out the newest fairness doctrine reincarnation.
bushwacked
I can't see anyone on the right getting away with saying this; Conservatives are clearly the victim here. Either that or because it was a joke on a entertainment/comedy/talk show. Is it hard, always being a victim?
TimC
And you don't think Rush Limbaugh is an entertainer? Look at the outcry and tears of despair from the lefties when he simply said he wanted Obama to fail. Like you guys wanted Bush to succeed, ever?
