Scooby's Hubby
Check Yo SelfNatural Born Killaz I Tried Put Your Head Out off the top of my head I say "Check Yourself" - The Ice Cube version but I could list 100 hip hop/rap songs that are just as good so maybe too broad of a category too bad Super Freak by Rick James doesn't count as rap/hip hop b/c that is a timeles classic

twiley
Love the Planets, and my favorite Gang Starr would be "Manifest". Ya know Guru passed away, yeah? Yeah, I remember reading that somewhere. And De La Soul kicks ass. E-40 Sideways. Forgot all about E-40, gonna have to download some songs. keggerz
Throwin' another out there.... Me, Myself and I by De La Soul. I am not 100% sure but around 99.9% sure that one of their songs had some of those lyrics that you could only hear if you spun the vinyl backwards. And also they were down to earth cats because they used to shop in a good friend of mines store.

I had one of their LPs that was "three sided". I forget how that all worked.

Square
Did I mention anything about the Huddle in my post? Do not lose site of the fact that music IS an integral part of any culture. If you ever stopped and thought that this or that song would make a good addition to the soundtrack of your life then that song is most definitely part of your culture. You can call it mainstream or pop, that just means that if you identify with it then you too are part of that culture. Every time the printer starts acting up at work I hear "Damn it feels good to be a gansta" in my head and think about kicking the crap out of it. Does that mean I have street cred?
