rustyc
What position were you in the draft? I have won 2 of the last 3 years in my local league and both times I won I was in the last draft position (12)
kevinkris
We just started a local league, only had 8 people as we decided pretty late to make one, and I won being in the last draft spot too (8th).
tbimm
I have won MSHB 2 years in a row. In 09 I drafted from the #1 slot. This season I drafted from the 16 slot.
Puddy
Won it from the 5th spot this year but it was free agency (Hillis, Green-Ellis) and trades (Vick and Foster) that took me to the title.
CowboysDiehard
Eigth in the 'big money' league I won. Started with two keepers, who I dropped by midseason due to injury (PT and DeAngelo), dictated by position limits and a critical need at RB. As stated above, however, this year really WAS about free agency in all my leagues. Although, I struck gold in the draft with Foster, Roddy, and Philip Rivers. The Holy Roller
In HOT I drafted 7th (or 9th, I'm old and forget) out of 12 positions. In a local I won I drafted 12th out of 12. I won AY2FDCBM but it's an auction WHICH IS THE BEST AND FAIREST WAY TO CONDUCT A DRAFT!
wolfer
Position #4. It was the day MJD rumors about his knee were swirling so I went WR-WR start. For me it was the mid-rounds (foster, Nicks), trades and WW that put me over the top. Â I did notice in my redraft leagues the last spot had pretty solid drafts this year. The Next Generation
13th out of 14 (1 player keeper league); won the top 2 prizes (total pts and SB champ) Â We determine draft order by previous years finish in total points, which is the top prize (1 = total pts; 2 = SB champ; 3 = 2nd in pts; 4th = SB runner-up) Â 2009 = 14th 2010 = 13th 2011 = 14th Edited January 13, 2011 by The Next Generation
amasnic
Drafted from the 5 slot and took A Johnson. Didnt hurt that I had J Charles as a 10th round keeper
Caveman_Nick
I won 2 survivor leagues, one from the 2nd spot in the draft (of 17 teams) and one from the 16 spot in the draft (of 18 teams) Â I won a league championship in an IDP contract dynasty, so I am not sure that matters to the discussion, but in the rookie draft I picked 12th last year. Pancake
I won the H2H portion of my money league this year and last year! Drafted 8th (in a 10 team re-draft league) both times. Traded down from 5th to 8th this year.
Deathpig
9th of 12 in a PPR, though winning had far more to do with a 'reach' of Foster in the 3rd round and FA/waiver pickups of Williams (TB, grabbed after riding Floyd early) and Tamme making up for the complete whiff of Moss in the first. Â Draft position doesn't seem to matter that much, because of how random injuries and whatnot are. You make the best decisions you can at the draft, and try and get lucky reading the tea leaves to make the best moves you can during the season. Sometimes it pans out, sometimes it doesn't, and sometimes you get killed by an unknown player that scores more than half your team.
Whiskey Pimp
I won in my local auction. I lost in the championship in my local draft from the #4 spot (MJD) and lost in the championship of my BOTH draft (HAG) from the 8th spot (Moss). Scooby's Hubby
I have won from last pick in a 12 team league, but this year I won with the 3rd pick (AP was passed over and I got him, only to not start him in any playoff game) The real question is who won and did NOT pick up Vick. Big John
I won six leagues and drafted from many spots. Â Â Out of 13 championships, I drafted from 11 different spots.
The Holy Roller
Out of 13 championships, I drafted from 11 different spots. Â I took this to mean you drafted out of the SAME numbered spot in at least TWO of your leagues.
Brentastic
In the 2 leagues that I won, I drafted from the #2 spot (12 team league) and the 10 spot (14 team).
Puddy
So I think we can summize that draft position doesn't matter.
