bushwacked
Does Primus belong in the discussion? More-so a power trio than SRV for sure.

Hugh B Tool
Emerson, Lake and Palmer - Power and talent in hugh amounts. Beck, Bogart and Appice T Rex BTW, Foghat was a foursome.

piratesownninjas
Rush, Motorhead, or ZZ Top? And before anyone says "Cream" I am already telling you to get that weak-ass sh*t outta here. Cream over Rush by a mile. Jack Bruce for the win. But if we're talking about pure badd assery then it's Lemmy by a mile.

Brentastic
While technically not a trio, Led Zeppelin for only having 3 instrumentalists were pretty damn powerful. If anyone has that Zep DVD that was released a few years back, watching that footage of them in concert, especially their earlier years is damn impressive. They sound like a machine built to produce power.

Chavez
Does Primus belong in the discussion? More-so a power trio than SRV for sure. Primus were impressive instrumentally, but they were more an "oblique trio" than a "power trio."
Chavez
BTW, Foghat was a foursome. Sorry for the confusion, I was mentioning Foghat not in regards to power trios but in regards to leading proponents of Texas boogie. Which they are VERY good at, despite the massive handicap of being English.

Between LZ, Sabbath, The Who, and The Ramones, it looks to be a hotly contested thread.

Ursa Majoris
Rory Gallagher? Indeed. Thought of him just after Trower. Taste's Isle Of Wight concert is excellent. ETA: RIP Rory. Edited March 21, 2011 by Ursa Majoris
whomper
Primus were impressive instrumentally, but they were more an "oblique trio" than a "power trio." This is the most confusing thread I have ever been involved in. We should just call it "Chaves favorite trios" I fart in this threads general direction Edited March 21, 2011 by whomper

skylive5
Band of Gypsies? Experience. The James Gang was mentioned.... what that when Walsh was with them or some other incarnation of the band? If it was when Walsh was with them then I could see them on the list.
