While technically not a trio, Led Zeppelin for only having 3 instrumentalists were pretty damn powerful. If anyone has that Zep DVD that was released a few years back, watching that footage of them in concert, especially their earlier years is damn impressive. They sound like a machine built to produce power.

Does Primus belong in the discussion? More-so a power trio than SRV for sure.

Primus were impressive instrumentally, but they were more an "oblique trio" than a "power trio."

BTW, Foghat was a foursome.

Sorry for the confusion, I was mentioning Foghat not in regards to power trios but in regards to leading proponents of Texas boogie. Which they are VERY good at, despite the massive handicap of being English.

Good call; we'll put them on the list of "power trios with four members" when we get to that debate.

Between LZ, Sabbath, The Who, and The Ramones, it looks to be a hotly contested thread.

This is the most confusing thread I have ever been involved in. We should just call it "Chaves favorite trios" I fart in this threads general direction
