Why Mitt Romney will NEVER be elected President

Romney's Getting Compliments from Al Gore Now, Too

EmailPrint..Elspeth Reeve Elspeth Reeve – Wed Jun 15, 4:19 pm ET

It's bad enough that Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney has to deal with an endless stream of compliments from President Obama for being the inspiration for Obamacare. But now Romney's getting praise from Al Gore, too? All poor Mitt needs is a nice word from Barbara Streisand and he'll have locked up endorsements from conservatives' three most prominent villains representing their three most hated parts of society: the federal government, environmentalists, and Hollywood.

At a New Hampshire town hall earlier this month, Romney broke with Republican orthodoxy when he said, "I believe the world is getting warmer, and I believe that humans have contributed to that. ... It's important for us to reduce our emissions of pollutants and greenhouse gases that may be significant contributors." In response, Rush Limbaugh said Romney could kiss the Republican nomination goodbye.

"Good for Mitt Romney," Gore wrote on his blog, as The Hill's Jordan Fabian notes. "While other Republicans are running from the truth, he is sticking to his guns in the face of the anti-science wing of the Republican Party."

Given that he has to fight conservatives' anger that he signed into law a bill that mandates individuals buy health insurance--the part of Obama's health care overhaul that conservatives hate the most--it's interesting Romney would take such an unpopular position among his party's base (Limbaugh called climate change a "hoax."). But Romney has said global warming is real for years, and perhaps he's even more afraid of being accused of yet another flip flop.

Talk about the kiss of death . . .

I think it's great he's saying what he thinks, even if it's not popular.

It'll be interesting to see how far he gets ... I have a little visibility into his money raising machine ... it's really rather impressive.

I agree. I'd rather have a Republican that stands on his hind legs and says his piece based on what he knows rather than one that says whatever he thinks the maniac wing of his party want to hear.

It is great, But it also means he is very unlikely to get elected President.

Presidential elections are not about what is right, or what you believe in. It is how dedicated you (and your career) have toed the party line.

I would rather have 4 more years of unbridled Socialism under Obama than to have Mitt Romney.

Given what this President has done to date, where he wants to take the country, and the conditon the country is currently in, it's truly astounding to hear that from anyone.

Unfortunately, I fear that there are a lot of people just like you in this country. Romney doesn't do a hell of a lot for me, other than he's not Obama.

Fixed.

He doesn't do anything for me either but if it's between him and Obama, well, It's Mitt all the way. Anyone has to be better than the turd we got in office now.

Hell, I'd even vote for bpwallace over Obama.

I would then seriously consider giving you a presidential pardon for being such an assclown

Romney is lukewarm, neither hot nor cold, so I will spit him out of my mouth.

What Do Mormons Believe: The Nature of Man

The Mormon church teaches that humans exist as spirit beings before their birth. At physical birth, bodies are given to these spirits. They are also given an opportunity for free-will choice. The physical world represents a period of probation. The status of a person in the afterlife is determined by the way that person lived his/her life on Earth. If the person lived by a satisfactory standard, (including the fulfillment of Mormon temple obligations) that person has the potential to become a god in the after-life. The person can also produce "spirit children" to populate a world of his own (like God did with the earth). The Christian church holds that humans do not exist as spirits prior to being born into the world. Humans cannot attain godhood or populate other worlds with "spirit children."

Ok, for the record, my opposition to Romney has absolutely nothing to do with him being a Mormon. I could not care less about his religious faith.

I never really assumed it did. My guess with you is that he wouldn't be hard core right enough. Personally, I'm not really warm or cold on Mitt. He might do a reasonable job, if given the chance. Just doesn't seem likely he'll get that chance.

Mitt comes across as too slick and fake. He also has trouble interfacing with the voters one on one. I don't see him winning, and yet I don't see any of the other GOP candidates currently running beating him for the nomination. Are we going to get the reincarnation of W in Rick Perry entering soon?
