Dr. Sacrebleu
Once you all get your wisecracks in regarding a bunch of frenchies in america, would like to get some advise. So since I have been back to France I have become good friends w a group of poker players. We play every two weeks, and once a year we have a poker weekend. last year, on one of the player's boat in Corsica is going to be hard to beat. So we are already planning next year, and decided Las Vegas. I suppose the plan is to mostly play our game in private (suite at a hotel?) and venture out in to the big bad world of vegas as well. Would love some recommendations as to suites or lodging options. I know vegas well, but I really have only been there with my wife, and it was before I got into poker (mostly a craps and some blackjack) Any, all suggestions welcome. regarding lodging options, and any tips regarding poker in vegas as well. Thankks
Scooby's Hubby
If you are getting a suite, the Venetian has many. The MGM also has a wide range of suites. These would be the first two hotels I would check into b/c they have a wider range of and more affordable suites than most Vegas hotels. Good luck! SheikYerbuti
any suite you get won't have a poker table in it. if you're interested in having your game hosted in a private home with professional dealers, pm me.
Big Country
I'll second the Venetian or the Palazzo. This. Great rooms, but as Sheikh notes you are not going to have a poker table or really even enough seats in the room to run a game. any suite you get won't have a poker table in it. if you're interested in having your game hosted in a private home with professional dealers, pm me. And this. Treasure Island used to (ie it was several years ago) have a set up where they would host your private game for you in their room. Catch was that you basically bought tourney chips off them, but it was run like a cash game. Reason it had to be this way was gaming laws - cash games by law have to be open to the public, tourneys can have restricted entry... something along those lines. As far as where the good games are, Venetian has always been a top notch game IMO, and I have heard good stuff about Aria. MGM is good for low buy in games. I also know that Orleans is a top spot for locals. But, as trends shift often, I will defer to Sheikh as far as the current hot spots for games and the best action. It all depends on what you're looking for. If you want to play in the classiest poker room in town, play Venetian or Aria. If you want the best game selection at the mid-high levels, play Bellagio. If you want to play against all the off-duty dealers and drunk fish, play Orleans. If you want to play Omaha 8-or-better (if you're bringing a group from France, this may be a priority), play Orleans. If you want to play a daily tournament with a good structure, play Caesars. Or better yet, if you're going to be in town for a few days, try them all.

Atlanta Cracker
For what it's worth I was out there in April for a bachelor party and we had a suite at the MGM that was straight from the 70's. I wouldn't recommend it though it did have plenty of room for 8 people to play poker. I am sure if you talk to the right person you can arrange to have a table setup in your room. You'll probably have to deal yourself or find some "outside talent." to come help you out.

Listen, I'm here with 8 of my friends and we all want to play poker, but we don't want to play in your poker room and pay rake and tip the dealers and all that crap. So, could you set up a table in our room so we can circumvent giving you guys any business? And could you throw in a nice spread of croissants and brie cheese on the house? Hello?.....Hello?" rocknrobn26
Venetian/Palazo are nice, but I just stayed @ TheHotel @ Mandalay. TheHotel has true suites, w/ very nice ammenities, restaurants, that has 2 separated rooms and 1.5 baths, nice if yall are sharing rooms. I think you'll be hard pressed to find a suite that will accommodate a big enough table to play poker in the room. Try contacting a casino host and see if they can set up a table in the Poker Room and the booze would be free.
