i_am_the_swammi
Hmmmm....projected weather for this weekend's game in Foxboro: 15-25 mph winds, temps at gametime (8:00PM) in the mid-teens and falling throughout the game.... Will it be enough to slow the Pats down? Will the running game of Tebow/McGahee better than the passing game of Brady & co? Perfect conditions, this game is a blowout.....but the wind and cold could certainly limit what the Pats want to do offensively. Seems someone upstairs is helping the Broncos a tad with the conditions this weekend
stevegrab
Will God be able to see through the blowing snow and ensure that Tebow and his chosen ones can win the game? So many questions....
Caveman_Nick
The Pats know how to handle weather conditions in their own house. This does not worry me.
Scorcher
The weather didn't hurt New England when they played the Raiders way back when, nor when they played the Titans a few years ago.
MTSuper7
I don't think this game is a blowout in perfect conditions. New England hasn't exactly been dominant at home in the postseason as of late. I mean, it could be a blowout, but I don't think it's a given that it would be in perfect conditions. I'm not saying they won't win....they probably will. Just not sure windy and 12 degrees is conducive to Brady throwing for 350+ yards and 4 TDs....game could be a little closer than was once envisioned: something along the lines of 24-13 sounds right, versus 38-17. Thing is they aren't playing the Packers or the Saints where they need to score 30+ to win, they're playing the very average and inconsistent Broncos. Sure the Broncos may have the edge running, but that isn't going to be enough even in a blinding snow storm. Lets also not forget the big advantage that offensive players have over defenders in bad field conditions. If Branch/Welker/Gronk make a move and get open Brady can hit them, even with the wind. Is Tebow going to be able to do the same? Starting to smell a little

i_am_the_swammi
Cold weather awaits in New EnglandJanuary, 12, 2012 5:40 PM ET By Bill Williamson It is going to be extremely cold in Foxborough, Mass., during the Denver Broncos-New England Patriots AFC divisional playoff game Saturday night. The forecast calls for nearly single-digit temperatures during the game, which kicks off at 8 p.m. ET. The low temperature for Saturday is currently expected to be nine degrees. However, it is supposed to be a clear night. “It’s cold, but that’s part of the game,” Denver cornerback Champ Bailey said. “You let the elements be what they are, and you just go out and play, try to stay warm as much as possible.” Added New England coach Bill Belichick: “We’re ready for whatever we get, yeah. [We] had over 100 practices this year, they’ve all been in all different types of conditions, so whatever we get, and I hope we’ll be ready to play in.” The game will be, by far, the coldest game Denver second-year quarterback Tim Tebow will ever play in. He played in a couple of games in 30-degree weather, but this will be another level of cold for the Florida product to deal with. hadn't really hit me that tebow has never played in brutally cold conditions...be very interesting to see how it affects him, too. i guess my point of contention is that, if he only completes 9-10 passes a game anyway, it won't affect him as much as a guy that relies on completing 30-35 passes a game to win. Like I said earlier, I still think the Pats win....bu this game was my lock of the week at NE -14....i think the wind and cold is enough to swing me to stay away, or to side with Denver getting the points and keeping it closer than originally expected. I have to agree with what is said here. I mean NE knows how to deal with bad weather being as they play in it every season, but a spread of -14 is huge now as there probably won't be many points scored in this game, unless they come from the defense. Still confident that the pats will win.
Jackass
It doesn't look like it's going to be windy or snowy. Don't see how it being cold makes a difference.
i_am_the_swammi
It doesn't look like it's going to be windy or snowy. Don't see how it being cold makes a difference. From Weather.com for Boston, MA...high temps shown are daytime highs...game doesn't start until 8:00PM: Tomorrow: Some sun in the morning with increasing clouds during the afternoon. High 32F. Winds W at 10 to 20 mph.Tomorrow night: Clear skies. Low 9F. Winds NW at 10 to 20 mph. A January Northwest wind in New England is pretty frigid. On another note, lets remember here that when they played in December, the Broncos were able to build an early lead rushing the ball (they rushed for 73 yards on the opening possession, capped by a Tebow rushing TD)....even when the Pats knew the rush was coming. I expect them to run and run and run again this weekend. They settled for two FGs on another two possessions. They led 13-7 before three 2nd quarter turnovers (two fumbles and a muffed punt) put them behind, and forced the Broncos into catch-up mode for the remainder of the game. Not sure the Patriots can count on 3 early turnovers this week. I think McGahee gets a lot of work this week, especially early, as the weather and the strategy of keeping Brady off the field warrant a lot of carries. if he has success like he did the last time they met, and the Pats give up the run as generously as they have all season.....I think the game stays close, and the Broncos cover the number. JUMbotron
I poo-poo any weather concerns because back in like 2004 I benched Rod Smith in a blizzard and he caught a 85-yard TD vs. Oakland. I absolutely do not care about NFL weather.

I absolutely do not care about NFL weather. That game was awesome for me in fantasy that year, helped get high score of the week(win $$), move into 2/3 place in total points (win more $$) and helped propel me into the playoffs. I was in LA visiting my brothers watching the game and was going nuts. Anyway, weather won't have much affect either way. Pats are still heavy favorites and likely to win, but I don't think I'd be betting against Tebow. So I guess take the Broncos and the points. Scooby's Hubby
no worries if you are a Pats fan ... Tebow is the one who cannot play in this type of weather. Someone tell me how good Denver's defense has been on the road, lately ... oh wait, I remember ... week 16 Buffalo scored 40, week 13 MINN scored 32. Sure this has nothing to do with the weather, but first things first, the Bronco defense ain't all that. Who is Champ Bailey gonna cover? Doesn't matter b/c he cannot cover everyone at once. If the LB's for Denver rush, who is left to cover Gronk and Hernandez? Nice season Denver, but let's get real, the Broncos are out of their element on this one. Bring Back Pat!!!
The Pats know how to handle weather conditions in their own house. This does not worry me. It worries me, only because I'll be standing in it for four hours or so!! It reminds me of the '07 AFC Championship game against the Chargers, the last game I went to. Pats didn't play well, but weren't really effected by the weather, except for maybe not being able to throw deep to Moss. This year's team does not rely upon the deep ball. The shorter the pass, the less effect wind has. I'm not worried about the weather either. I look for two unsung heroes tomorrow night. Ridley to have a nice game running the ball, and Branch (who missed the game remember) to have a big game. If the Broncs put Champ on Welker and double Gronl, Branch should be in 1 on 1 all night.
