Cowboyz1
Blaming the wrong people. The entire truck load of blame is borne by the coaching staff. They are responsible for Megatron going off but despite that, that game was won. If we have any other coach ANY other coach we win. A run instead of a pass on third down and three kneel downs and a kick game over. Passing on third down and 12 was stupid. Stopped the clock. Running the ball allowing for an idiot to hold stopping the clock again. Garrett gets the yips at the moment of truth. Period. Simple as that. stevegrab
pure gold. Love the rant at Dez for not being a class act like Calvin and "just sitting his butt down" when they didn't throw him the ball. Yep, and that probably won't change with Dez, once a head case always a head case. Edited October 28, 2013 by stevegrab

Cowboyz1
I think that nothing you said is correct Ok, I will play it out for you. 1st and 10 Cowboys have the ball with 2 and some change left in the game. 1st down run loss of 4 2nd down run gain of 2 3rd down and 12 incomplete pass saves Detroit from having to use timeout so they have two instead of one. IF they run the ball Detroit has to use their timeout or lose the game. Now on the last possession of the Cowboys have the ball 1st and 10 with on the 31 after a great stop by the D. Now had they of run the ball on the previous possession and then punted, all they have to do is kneel down three times kick or punt game over we win. Detroit would have either 12 seconds to go 90 yards. Or less then 12 seconds if the Cowboys chose to not kick the field goal and punt or run around on fourth down. Either way Detroit has one play to go the length of the field.

satelliteoflovegm
If you were a Lion fan would you be glad Dallas punted? There's a lot of assumptions to the scenarios you present. Do you believe the Lions offense really needed the timeout they didn't use when it was 3rd and 12 and inc.? Much less chance to convert a run on 3rd and 12 verses a pass and the time left says Dallas was correct to throw and win the game there and then. That's not necessarily math, but more of a logical theory.

Cowboyz1
Hell the could have taken the snap on third down on the last possession and run back for a safety and game over. So many ways too kill the clock yet none of them used.

Seahawks21
I gotta put a big chunk of this on good ol' Slip. He could easily be seen during the timeouts begging Garrett to pass the ball.

They ran the ball on the next 3rd down, and could have milked that clock just how you describe, but the PLAYERS committed a penalty and stopped the clock. The D gave up all those passes on the last drive, the D fell asleep at the wheel when Stafford lept over them for the game-winnner and, just for good measure, ran around the end and scored again. I need to check the box score to see if they gave him 2 TD's on that play. Putting this at Garret's feet is a joke. Or delusional. Or a Cowboy fan.

It is the coaches responsibility to put players in positions to succeed. Had he of taken the ball and kneel on it game over. Parcels, Reid, Caughlin, Tomlin, and a host of other coaches would have managed that game to win period. I suppose your point is taken though you have to know the rules but that's why you have a coach that has the experience to know not to put everything on a 1st, or 2nd year players as they haven't seen everything yet. Well the owner GM hired the coach, so ultimately you blame him.
