Sofa League Draft

no argument with you here....the question is whether Suggs upside is big enough to mitigate his downside, which IMO Suggs downside is much bigger than Tiki's.  Boils down to risk management. Proven performer with limited upside and limited downside OR unproven RB with big upside and big downside.

My sentiments, exactly. Too early to be rolling the dice..secure the 2nd RB spot now, go to the casino later in the draft. I'd rather secure the RB2 spot now with Tiki, then take a chance later in the draft on McGahee, Stephen Jackson, or Julius Jones. One or two of those guys should be available in the 7th, 8th or even 9th round. I think they have just as much upside as Suggs - sure they could be complete busts this year, but so could Suggs and you're better off taking those chances much later in the draft. Let someone else gamble with a 5th rounder on Suggs.

You are probably right. I guess Tiki is the safest choice.

Doesn't make it right....just makes it safe....just one of many many drafting styles...WW might cut lose and draft a TE for all we know.

Did anybody notice that FFM's last picks, Smith and Walker have the same bye :doah:

AND FSP's #1 and #2 RBs Ahman Green and Chris Brown have the same BYE weeks! Whoops! :D

Huddle is on the clock again at 5:02 who will they take ? I think it might be Wheatley but Koren Robinson is still there. I wonder if the Huddle will try Robinson again?

Really! The Huddle is on the clock!?

Ummm...what do you think we've been discussing for the last 30 posts? :D

Exactly...not saying Tiki is the right pick, we won't know who the "right" pick is until December. I understand the logic in looking at Suggs here, I just think he's a bit too risky for this spot. I also think it's too early to go TE (I think that post was sarcastic, but who knows). I don't see a big run on TEs between here and #71. Sure if Gonzo or Heap were available, you could make that argument at this spot. I have Shockey #3 on my TE draft list, but there are plenty of guys right below him that will suffice if he's not there at #71.

Its way too early in the draft to be worrying about your WRs bye weeks. You draft the best players at this point and then pick up some scrub later in the draft or off waivers to cover your bye week.

According to the Huddle rankings:

WR available #16 Toomer, #19 Booker, #20 Price, #21 K. Robinson

RB available #21 Barber, #26 Wheatley, #27 Dunn, #28 Garner, #29 George, #30 Buckhalter, #31 Foster, #32 Minor, #33 Jackson, #34 Suggs

TE #3 Shockey

You have to pick up 2 scrubs to cover because they have the bye on the same week. I try to keep an eye on it during draft day and it does have some influence on my picks.

True.

Clearly you take it into consideration, but at this point in the draft you're trying to collect the best talent. I'd rather have two really good players with the same bye week and try to piece things together for a week than pass on a player I liked at this point.

Obviously, you could say there are players available with the same potential as Walker (or Smith) and therefore they should have taken someone else. I'm not going to argue about Walker or Smith's merrits. But, if it were me, and there were two recievers I really wanted and they were both available I wouldn't let bye weeks stand in my way at this point in the draft.

2000, when Dayne "ate into" Tiki's production the most with 228 carries, Tiki had 1006 yards rushing with 8 Tds on just 213 carries, and another 719 yards receiving with another TD thrown in for giggles. Sounds like 1725 total yards and 11 TDs to me. Not too bad for a #2 RB - borderline #1 is more like what it sounds like, and in a leage that rewards receptions, it's even better for the 70 balls he caught.

To me it looks like Tiki Barber has averaged between 4.7 & 5.2 ypc with Dayne sharing carries, while Dayne averaged between 3.4 and 3.8 ypc by comparison.

This is from "another board" that I look at once in awhile. I know, it's like committing adultry! :D Stop it! You all do it too. Anyways, here is another link to more views on the SOFA draft. http://www.fftodayforums.com/forum/index.p...opic=34948&st=0

It seems to me that Tiki has to be the hands-down choice here. I whole-heartedly agree with Tiki here...
