Wasn't RB already a need for OAK?  More without Lynch but who do they have?  They signed Crowell, still have 3rd year Andre Washington. Jalen Richard is gone.  Were they really just going to platoon Crowell/Lynch and hope for the best? Or are they still in tank mode for 2020 top picks?

And now Crowell has torn his ACL and will miss the 2019 season.

So what are the Raiders plans. I see 4RB on the roster, Richard and Washington are both in their 4th year and each have about 200 career carries. There is also 2nd year Chris Warren III, who sat out his rookie year with an injury. And Josh Jacobs the rookie from Alabama. Are they going to be looking to add somebody now, maybe even trade for another guy similar to Crowell?  Or just roll with these young guys.

They'll likely add another body later on. Once the cuts come in August, there are plenty of roster-able RBs. Too bad this happened now instead of a week ago. They missed out on all the undrafted RBs they could have grabbed.

They just re-signed Doug Martin.

Makes sense he had the bulk of the carries last year, 172 out of 387 (Lynch=90[6 games], Richard=55, Washington=30[10gms]) and started 9 of the 10 games Lynch missed.

According to Huddle News

Retired RB Marshawn Lynch is willing to play for the Oakland Raiders if they want to sign him, according to a source.

Oh boy, apparently he didn't to compete with Crowell for playing time, but is OK with competing with Doug Martin (or didn't know he signed before announcing his possible unretirement) :hscratch:

Lynch made that statement before the Crowell injury. So it wasn't about camp competition.

Link?

I'm trying to figure out where in that tweet (with the pictures of cleats dangling from a line) did he say he'd return if the Raiders wanted him. (If the Raiders did want him to return they could have talked to him and given him a contract extension, or made some kind of offer).

Has he even officially retired? As in made a statement saying that, or actually filing retirement papers with the NFL?

He has said pretty much nothing all off season.  His retirement announcement came via a tweet by Adam Schefter.  I'm sure Marshawn is willing to play if he is guaranteed a role.  He isn't going to come back to sit the bench and be a cheerleader.  The signing of Crowell pretty much closed the door on him having much of a role so he retired.  Crowell getting hurt reopened that door so he announced via a Steve Wyche tweet that he'd be willing to come back.
