Mine has to be sending Matt Hasselbeck to Seattle to move up from 17 to 10 in the 2001 draft.

Green Bay took Jamal Reynolds and Seattle took who at 17?

I am a Viking fan. I probably need not say any more :D

herschel walker come on down! :D

In 1989, at the height of his NFL career, the Cowboys traded him to the Minnesota Vikings for a total of five players (LB Jesse Solomon, DB Issiac Holt, RB Darrin Nelson, LB David Howard, DE Alex Stewart) and six draft picks (which led to Emmitt Smith, Russell Maryland, Kevin Smith, and Darren Woodson).

Steve Hutchinson. :D

. . . and policyvote throws things around the room because Hutch is gone one pick before the Lions would have taken him, and instead the franchise is saddled with Jeff Backus, who was "almost as good" at U of M.

:D

Peace

The Brownies trading up to get Brady Quinn isn't looking so hot at the moment.

Really? I mean, I understand that Anderson stepping up means you don't need Quinn as much but that's not a bad thing. Quinn looked good in pre-season and who knows how he would have done had Anderson not played well enough to keep him off the field. Considering that the pick you're going to be giving up won't be any worse than the one you got and plenty think that Quinn is better than a late 1st rounder, I don't think you have much to complain about.

At this point there's little reason to believe that Quinn won't be either a guy you can trade for good value or even somebody who could step in and lead the team should something happen to Anderson.

You could do worse. You could have traded what will likely be a top 5 pick for end of the 1st round OT like SF did.

It keeps getting worse for the Cowboys.

I would think he's worth as much in a trade this year maybe more. His stock went up quite a bit in pre season but may be more valuable to the Browns as insurance and leverage. With him on the roster the team can use him as leverage to sign Anderson long term then trade him.

How does it keep getting worse for Dallas. We got the player we wanted last yr in round 1, and still got Clevelands 1st this yr, giving us 2 1st rounders.

Dallas didnt need a QB, which is why they made that trade last yr. Unless you think Quinn should be starting for Romo :D

At the time of the trade the pick looked like a top 10 pick maybe even top 5. Cleveland's success means the pick keeps moving down in the 1st round.

I'm going way back, but for me, it was Dan Pastorini (Oilers) for Kenny Stabler (Raiders). As an Oilers fan, I loved Pastorini, and Stabler was obviously on the downside of his career. We were one game away from a Super Bowl birth after the 1979 season, but it wasn't the same team after that trade. Pastorini's career was ended with a broken leg, Earl Campbell was litterally run into the ground, the Oilers backed into the playoffs and were quickly dispatched in the first round, and Bum Phillips was fired. It was the end of an era that lasted all too briefly, especially during the days before Free Agency.
