MustOfBeenDrunk
first guys this is a high dollar league ,,, over $500 entry it's a dynasty with most of the same owners for 6 years so someone please tell me what I'm missing here ? 2011 Fantasy Sharks Dynasty League Trade Threat Level Midnight gave up: Starks, James GBP RB Washington, Nate TEN WR Wayne, Reggie IND WR Year 2012 Round 1 Draft Pick from Threat Level Midnight Year 2012 Round 2 Draft Pick from Threat Level Midnight Year 2012 Round 3 Draft Pick from Threat Level Midnight NJFreeze gave up: Green, A.J. dino88
It looks like you'll need to find two new owners for next year.
Brentastic
I wouldn't object to it. If the guy trying to get A.J. Green really thinks he's the next Calvin/Andre/T.O. etc... then why not? Wayne has a couple years left at best and that's only IF Peyton returns. Nate Washington and Starks, meh. Neither are standouts by any means. Draft picks are no guarantee on anything. IMO, A.J. Green and Julio are the two best WRs coming out of college in some time. And I'm a HUGH fan of Dalton, so I personally think A.J. Green could be the next elite WR for the next 10 years. Apparently the guy trading for him thinks so as well. Bottom line is that NOBODY can predict the future with 100% accuracy and the fact that it's such a high dollar league means that the owners take this very seriously. You really can't say anything, imo. Unless of course you're willing to pay the two entry fees in exchange for making decisions on how to run their teams. Zooty
ehhh, a bit much for Green but hypothetically (and I don't know how you deal with contracts but will assume they are kept forever) Starks could be a flash in the pan, I don't think he's even technically the starter Washington has always been mehh, we saw him as a #1 and it wasn't pretty Wayne could be experiencing a Harrison like flame out In which case he just dropped the 3 picks for a guy who could be the next Fitz// Calvin/ Andre or he just overpaid for a Bengals WR
Outshined
I think Brentastic nailed it. I would be curious to see the rosters of both teams.
TheAdonis2010
never done a keeper league..but giving your top 3 draft picks for next years draft seems ridiculous....(didnt even think that was allowed in those dynasty leagues)

Zooty
never done a keeper league..but giving your top 3 draft picks for next years draft seems ridiculous....(didnt even think that was allowed in those dynasty leagues) not at all uncommon. Especially trading away picks for players to "win now" dynasty's are much different than keepers
Brentastic
never done a keeper league..but giving your top 3 draft picks for next years draft seems ridiculous....(didnt even think that was allowed in those dynasty leagues) It's a dynasty league, not just a keeper league. That means you only draft (unproven) rookies. So those draft picks are nowhere near as 'guaranteed' as they are in a re-draft and obviously not even re-draft picks are guaranteed but at least you can select from proven players. Plus in dynasty leagues, once you get out of the first round - and even in the latter part of the 1st round - the draft picks, many times, are just lottery tickets. I think my dynasty league (16 teams) had 5 rounds in the draft - so that's 80 rookies picked up. How many of those 80 offensive rookies are even going to be in the league in 3 years? My point is that the probability of drafting a rookie who is fantasy startable is much lower in a dynasty. 80 rookie offensive players every season - think about the probability of success. It can't be very high.
montster
I would have to think hard before giving up that much for an elite player, much less a rookie WR. Still, if you trust both owners, I see nothing wrong with it. I would be interested in knowing how good the team is that got all the draft picks. I guess the only thing that would upset me is if he's stacked and the picks secure that position for a long time.

Cunning Runt
that's objectively bad. The other trade was perfectly fine, but two top 10 RBs for one top 20 RB is beyond reason. Are you absolutely certain that you got that info right? If so, I would *demand* an explanation from those two owners. Why? Aren't you one of those "let people run their own team" guys? Your response is hypocritcal.
The Holy Roller
Unless it's collusion I would not say no to either trade. Perhaps he is a rich moran. Edited October 1, 2011 by The Holy Roller
Bronco Billy
If its a dynasty league, it means he'll have Green his whole career - maybe up to 15 years. If the owner trading for Green thinks he'll finish in the playoffs, those draft picks aren't worth nearly what say a 1.03 or a 1.05 is worth. The talent level can fall off fast after the top 5 to 6 picks. Wayne is at the tail end of his career and may be catching bounce passes from Painter for 2 years before he's done, Starks is going to lose carries to a RB now and in the near future, either Grant, Green, or who knows next year. Washington - meh. Looks to me like the guy getting Green thinks he'll be a stud for years, and dependent on his draft position gave up a lot of what could be spare parts to him - albeit with some value - for what he probably thinks is a top 6 WR for the next decade or more. I don't see the problem. And at guys who don't understand dynasty leagues and think the owners are colluding or should be kicked out. In another league with these same owner we have a father & son owners of two different teams. Last season the son was going through a divorce and decided he wanted to quit FF in mid season. The father instead ( behind the scene & we found out all details later ) told the kid that he would run both of their teams and they would split what ever was won down the middle. Long story short the father stack one of the teams with the best of both teams & won the league. Then the son said he was not retuning to play this year. So when I seen the trade come down between these two friends I over reacted

keggerz
I don't see any problem with the 1st deal...in dynasty leagues there are times you have to pay out the a$$ to get a stud or stud-to-be. As far as the draft picks go, since GMX started 2005 I think, I have made just 2 (I think) picks in the top 3 rounds and have made the playoffs I think in all but one year. CIN WR I've been in Dynasty leagues for about 7 years now. And none of those players being traded are worth very much in a dynasty league. Wayne may return to form next year when Manning returns, but he's still old. And giving up draft picks for a possible stud for 15 years is not as crazy as some would think. Dynasty leagues are a different animal. Most draft picks are a bust. And depending on the leagues roster level rules, many quality players can be grabbed off waiver wires. I guess what I'm trying to say is that this trade is NOT as crazy as it looks. That is assuming that Green ends up being a top 5 WR for the next decade, which I believe he can be. Starks is not the answer in GB. Nate is always going to be a #3 WR at best. There are dozens of Nate Washington's out there. And Wayne is washed up....his value this year is way down. So if you have say a Steve Smith, or a Brandon Marshall on your roster, then I'd give all of those other WR's up for a chance at a super star WR for the next decade. I say let the trade go through.
