Quote

"I take my mental health very seriously at this point to ensure I remain able to perform at the highest level," Gordon wrote. "I have recently felt like I could have a better grasp on things mentally. With that said, I will be stepping away from the football field for a bit to focus on my mental health. I would like to thank Coach Belichick, Mr. Kraft, as well as countless others within the Patriots organization for their continued support. I want to thank my fans for their support as well as I continue down the path getting back to 100%."

Who had week 16 in the pool?  I knew he'd never last, "facing suspension for a violation of his reinstatement" = he is getting high again.  Pressures of the game mount, Josh crumbles and returns to what he knows, playing drunk/high. If he needed that to survive playing in HS/college, he was doomed in the NFL.

Hopefully if he has real addiction issues (not really possible with pot) he deals with them, if not he can enjoy his retirement and sit around getting high as needed (should be much less stress).

At least the Browns got something for him before he tried to go help the Pats, now leaving them in a lurch with a busted Gronk to boot.

He has serious issues. He needs to get his life straight and football is a distant second in that. Shame he has the physical tools, but not the ability to apply them.

I think we can officially stop thinking about this guy in any football capacity. That part of his life is over. As a fellow human being , I hope he eventually straightens himself out . Addiction, mental health issues, and money can lead to bad things a lot of times .

I truly hope that Josh Gordon gets the help he so desperately needs to save his life.  From all accounts he is a decent person who can't break the stranglehold that drugs and alcohol have on his life.

I recapped this to my Wife last night ( an outpatient addiction counselor at a local hospital) after she told me that her facility had a director down mandate that all clients who have been on her (and her co-workers) roster for over a year must be dropped to allow room for others.   Josh has all the resources of a multi billion dollar corporation at his disposal to get help,  and has struggled for almost a decade, the rest of us, it seems will be given up on after a year ( of bi weekly 1 hour meetings)...It truly is a terrible disease, I've said this before, and i'll repeat it again.  ALCOHOL is the ONLY drug that if you go cold turkey can cause you to die, yet its the easiest to acquire.  It's a shame, it went this far, i bought a version of him for the 1st (and only time) earlier this season, i hope he continues to try, and now fully realizes that it will be a lifetime struggle, he will always (while alive) be in recovery.
