There was definitely a first for me in that game....at one point the Cowboys had a 3rd and 50. Seriously....3rd and 50. They had the ball at the Arizona 15 yard line and ended up punting. I can't ever remember seeing a time where a team needed 50 yards to make a first down.

From what I saw, Warner looked very much in command, and "crisp" is a good word for the passes. IF they can just give him time, he's fine.

Heard the exact same thing about him last year during pre season with the Giants.

 

Then the regular season started and the vanilla D's of the pre season, were replaced by regular season defensive schemes.

 

Admittedly the WR's in AZ are far better than what he had to work with in New York and I think Greene is a far better Coach than Coughlin, in regards to offensive game plans, but I still saw the old "Deere in the Headlights" look from Warner last year, once the regular season started.

Lets see if I can shrink this down a bit:

 

Arizona :

 

1. Warner did look good for the 1st preseason game. If he can keep this up the Cards will have a passing game to fear this year

2. JJ looked average at best (and that's being nice)

3. O-line was steady and looked good in pass protection

4. Defense looked very good

5. myhousekey is right, Fitzgerald did look very, very, good

 

Dallas :

 

1. Bledsoe looked like he didn't belong on a football field. He looked like he didn't have a clue

2. To make things worst. Jones, looked as bad as Arrington

3. The O-line was non-existent

4. Defense needs work, doesn't look like they have it figured out yet

5. Witten looked great

 

All in all, terrible preseason game.

I realize it is only pre-season, but this really bothered me when I heard they brought in Bledsoe during the off-season. We'll see how it works out.

Romo looked good on 2nd teams hooking up with Witten. Man that was a hell of a pass to Crayton in the end zone that was never caught but was close.

Dunno if you can answer this, but did he look to be unable to compete physically, or was he just tentative and making mental mistakes?

 

Because the 2nd is correctable; the first is not.

I'd say JJ's lack of numbers was due more to the OL not really opening up holes along with tentativeness. He never really seemed comfortable (IMO).

 

After having to stomach Arizona's passing offense last season (reminded me of a Penn State passing attack - and any Big 10 fans who have watched the Nittany Lions "try" to do that know what I mean), it was actually fun to watch Warner step back and throw, knowing there was an actual chance a completion waited at the other end.

 

Although pre-season, what I saw from the Cardinals was an attitude. The Cards had one all night long, in all facets of the game. The gang tackling was great, even on pass plays - 2-3 guys there pushing the receiver out of bounds.

 

These guys are hungry.
