theeohiostate
Nebraska vs Michigan These officials need to be fired NOW!! Aside of the fact that they hosed the boys up north TWICE costing them 2 timeouts when replay wasn't called , aside of the fact the announcers stated they have NEVER seen such a poor officiated game from start to finish, aside of the fact MEEECHIGAN got robbed on an obvious pass interference that was laughable when not called by ALL who saw it that would have given them 1st and goal and aside of the final play when MEEECHIGAN was running their last play and had the entire Nebraska team and staff on the field DURING THE PLAY no less, without any penalty being called. Regardless of all this they deserved to lose, they didn't show up and it was the worst game i've ever seen them play. Nebraska.............you owe those officials a cold one. theeohiostate
1240525 I guess you think it was a well officiated game. Love seeing MEEECHIGAN go down.............but not like that, if they were out played it would be so much sweeter
Puddy
Just got back from watching the game. Sure I'm a UM fan, but TOS, you are spot on. One of the worst officiated games I've witnessed. Usually, I agree with the school of thought that teams must play above the bad officiating, but this game was ridiculous. F'n Sun Belt conference officials. I guess that's what UM deserves by going to such a substandard bowl game this year. PatrickL
that was easily the worst officiated game i've ever seen. if i had to put up with sun belt officials, I think I would have to find another sport.
GWPFFL BrianW
Terrible calls, but you know what... A. Michigan had there chances to put Nebraska away despite the huskers having the refs. So no excuse there.... B. Poetic Justice? As an Iowa fan, I'm kinda happy about it going down the way it did with the terrible calls, after Michigan getting handed call after call against Iowa earlier in the year. I feel bad the Big Ten lost, but hey, I gotta call it the way I see it. Michigan had there chances.
GWPFFL BrianW
oh yeah, and no one gains anything in bowl pick'em cuz everyone picked michigan.
bigrocks
That was a terrible display of officiating. If I were a Nebraska fan (which thank God I am not), I would hesitate to even stick my head outside today... pathetic.

Nebraska.............you owe those officials a cold one. 1240515 As a Husker fan, I'm with you on firing the officiating crew, they were obviously not qualified to be reffing the bowl game. Michigan shouldn't have had to use any of there timeouts to get the plays reviewed. The worst was the clock management after Nebraska's last possesion. I think they ran an extra 15-20 seconds off the clock before starting the play clock. The time should of been put back on. Yes there was pass interference, but they missed it. This happens in every game, and I'm just sad that it had to happen at that point in the game. As for the end of the game there were players and coaches from both teams on the field, although there were significantly more Huskers than Wolverines out there. Should have been off-setting penalties at the least. I don't know if that means they would have replayed the down or just called the game. Couple of questions though about the last play for anyone. 1. What would the penalty be on the last play, Illegal Participation, or would it be a sideline infraction? 2. In college football, can anybody advance a fumbled lateral or is it like the pros where only the one who fumbled it can? Anyway, thanks to Michigan for the great game. Sorry the officiating was as bad as it was, and here's to hoping we can meet somewhere down the road under better circumstances.
polksalet
If a cou0ple of bad calls cause you to lose, you deserve to lose. Good riddance to the paper tiger that is the big 10.

A ball fumbled backwards can be advanced by anybody.

GWPFFL BrianW
I wasn't aware that coffemans had a confidence factor in it. I agree with polka... yeah the calls were terrible. On the pass interference, yeah it was clear, but Manningham shoudla caught teh one that hit him right in the hands on the previous play for a first down, and you wouldnt have even needed to worry about it. Michigan choked. Plain and simple. They were up 28-17, had all the momentum in the world, but couldnt put the game away. Offsetting penalties woulda meant they had to replay the down for those that were wondering about that.

Tommyknocker
Being a life long Husker I've got to weigh in here. I will agree the officiating was BAD, but as usual it was a two way street. Bad calls on both sides of the ball. The worst was Mich having to waste time outs to get reviews. That was costly in the end, but what about the punt return interference call? Two consecutive punts with identical results and one gets flagged and the other doesnt? They looked identical to me. He caught the ball so shouldnt have been any penalty. Getting jacked up is just part of the game. What bothered me the most was Herbstriet or whatever his name is. Hell I thought I was wathing a Guiness commercial with all his talk of Carr's brilliance. Lordy man, he should have just dropped to his knees and started making Os for Mr Brilliant Carr. Both teams had thier chances to make or break this game regardless of officiating. Mich led by 11 in the fourth quarter, and couldnt finish. The officials didnt make any blocks on Ross's 31 yd TD run and they didnt throw or catch the winning TD pass. Bad officiating is as much a part of the game as weather, and it goes both ways, some are just more glaring than others. If one play makes or breaks the game, then why play all the rest? My hat is off to Mr Callahan, I dont think of him as brilliant, but I do think the Husker program is on its way back, I'm very pleased to see that we can play with the likes of a Michigan. It hasnt been that way the last couple years.
GWPFFL BrianW
I wanted michigan to win for the Big Ten, but I couldn't help but smile when Lloyd Carr was out there calling his timeouts trying to get a replay. Michigan had been getting the calls all year long. And as I said... the officiating was terrible, but Michigan had there chance to put the nail in the huskers coffin, but they couldn't get the job done. the Blackshirts forced some turnovers, and just looked better late in the game. Where u think Michigan got all these calls is beyond me, I could name aleast 3 games where Michigan got jobbed, Nd game, before the fumble on the goal, henne crossed the plain, but yet no Td called, next play henne fumbles, and the rest is history, Msu game, a forward pass. called as a fumble, ties game we go to O.T. And well the Nebreska game, it was unbeleivable. 1. Late hit on Breaston, no personal foul. 2. Fumble not reviewed, result in a t.d 3 Forced to take, not 1, but 2 timeouts for review. BS' 4 Pass interferance, not called, Would have set up first and goal. 5 Spoting the friggin ball, letting 15-18 seconds off the clock. Now officiating aside, if possible. Michigan played probably 1 of there worst games, but yet still was there to the bitter end. To me, that game was a reflection of Michigans entire season, not closing games out. Ohio St, Wisconsin,Minnesota, and now Nebraska. All thes games, have the same thing in common, they were all lost in the 4th quarter. I guess theres next year, But this season, raises a hugh Flag. Next season Michigans road games, include ND,Penn.St, and Ohio St.

I didnt see a favoring of bad calls for EITHER team, so the people whining about michigan being robbed of a game-- Absolutely ridiculous. All I saw was horrible calls for both teams, and you can't really be scientific and try to figure out who had the worst calls. Stop complaining, nebraska won.
