Endzone
It sucks having the 2nd highest point totals over the past 3 weeks but end up being matched up with someone who's team should suck and ending up with the highest point totals of the week and thus being 0-3. This week losing by 10 points when Tiki who normally score 30+ and Vick 30+ end up scoring 16 and 15 and his guy J. Walker winning with his 80 yard bomb reception which he should have been tackled by the hapless Pats. I think I will suggest that the FFL be the one who ends up with the most points at the end of year so would the COLTS?
millerx
It's happened to me a couple different years...It sucks bad. This year I'm not in the top two in points (12 team league) but I'm near the top and 0-3 myself. The only thing you can do is sit back and laugh. It just shows how much of fantasy football is based solely on luck (or unlucky in this case).
Raider.Nation
I'm in that boat. 2nd in points in my league, 1-2 record to show for it. But you know what, in a larger league it shouldn't affect you too much. We have a 14 teamer, and we don't use divisions. So once it comes down to playoff time, as long as I'm around .500 I will still be near the top, like in 5th or something based on how many points I've scored. That being said, I also need my no-namer value picks to keep producing.
CaptainHook
Yeah, guy in my league has Portis, Hass, and Walker. Second in points for the week with 112+. Unfortunately he was playing the guy who had E. Manning, Westbrook, and Roy Williams who had over 120 points.

You are in for a long year if you expect 30+ points out of Vick most weeks. It does suck when he has probably 2 of the best fantasy weeks of the year and you lose both. Vick has to be one of the most inconsistent fantasy players ever.

Beatdown on me. But rememeber, that it is a marathon, not a sprint.
STL Fan
This is why our league went to double-headers a couple years ago. If you double the number of games, it reduces the bad-luck factor in matchups, and if you have the second highest point total for a week, but are unlucky enough to play the highest point total at least you escape with a split. Two years in a row we had a team that led the league in scoring, but finished out of the regular season money. (Oh yeah, it was ME.)

madman34698
This year I decided to have the top 3 records make the playoffs and then the team with the most points gets the 4th spot. Hated playing the team that scores the most each week, this way if I do well it doesnt matter who I play. I am sure a lot of you will hate this idea, but it really is fair
joethin
Yup... I'm first in points and sitting at 1-2. Should change... hopefully!!! Scuba, I like your avatar
NinersIn2006!
This is why I will never play in a head to head league for big money....I am in one and the buy in is $20, but my big money league is cummulative, and I like it much better that way...you root for your players, and dont really have to worry about rooting against anyone... STL Fan
This is why I will never play in a head to head league for big money I certainly understand this, and we considered it, but the real fun in a local with all your frineds is the smack-talk that comes from the head-to-head competition. We just tried to downplay the luck as much as possible by doing the double-headers.

crispirons
16 team league. dead last 4th scoring in my division. yet, 4th highest scorer in the league. 0-3.
PythonPatrol
Yeah me too! I am now 1-2 on the year thanks to Chad and Cooley giving me 2 points combined this past weekend, but this is my third week scoring at least 90 points It seems like I can never play the guy who only score 70-80 points. Week 1 I won: 94 to 77 Week 2 I lost : 109 to 113 Week 3 I lost again: 92 to 96. I am also 3rd in points in my league . I hope things turn around for us soon! Coyote
I had this happen all the time in head to head leagues.......I simply choose to play in total points leagues for the big monies. I play in head to head leagues just to prove this theory.
Thews40
Total points is the way to go. We pay out #1 and #2 for total points ($100 entry), and the SB winner gets 25%. Every team makes the playoffs, and the top two in each division get week 12 and 13 byes, while the bottom 8 teams fight it out for four slots when the real playoffs start in week 14. Everyone makes the playoffs, the bottom four teams have two playoff games (combined scores of weeks 12 and 13), so no one throws in the towel. No matter how bad you've done all year, you know you'll have two weeks of playoff bliss. We've had teams going into week 12 with three wins take the SB. If the total points is where most of the money is, it makes it a lot more fun. Another fun thing is having the top two in each division play against each other in the week 12 and 13 byes. The winner gets to choose the opponent in week 14 from the division.
Endzone
After your feedback, I will implement the majority of the prize money to total points. Anybody every played were you have to pay or recieve say 5 cents a point for the total point differential per week. Highest scoring team recieves 5 cents per point differential from every team lower than he is. The 2nd highest team pays the 1st place team but collects from everyone below him. The last place team will end out paying everyone else? Just like playing skins in golf? Basically you are playing every team every week and hope you score the highest points. Depending on your point system a dime per point could make it very exciting
