Perhaps you've forgotten the numerous attempts on Musharaff's life by Islamic radicals. Given that his people are about as pro-American as the Saudis, he's stuck between a rock and a hard place. It's tough to blame him for not marching his army into the mountains and gunning down all of the tribes sympathetic to al Qaeda.
