kpholmes
Took Russel months. Took McFadden less than 48 hours. If you don't believe DMC will be a central piece of this offense now, you're crazy.

Not that there was any real question but you are right. It just helps so much to have the players signed and in camp from day one. Let's hope this helps along the other signings. detlef
I understand that he was slotted 3 spots ahead of where AD was taken last year but that's a massive jump in coin from 5 yrs 40 mil to 6 yrs 60 mil. They really, really need to get this rookie salary thing in check.
Bronco Billy
How much is Ryan Grant scheduled to make next season? $435,000?
rebdog
How much is Ryan Grant scheduled to make next season? $435,000? excellent point. ridiculous is what it is. they need a rookie pay scale and some type of arbitration for experienced players....such as Ryan Grant. Bronco Billy
My bad. GB offered a $370,000 tender, which Grant refused to sign.
loyalboyd
My bad. GB offered a $370,000 tender, which Grant refused to sign. How can't you be when a proven player is low balled and a great college player step on the field and get paid that. I would refuse to sign that too especially seeing McFadden numbers and its a possibility of him out producing him this season as well. I feel sorry for these vets. detlef
Grant's got nobody to blame but his own union. For some inane reason, they're fighting a rookie salary structure like the NBA's which is very odd because they're basically looking out for guys who are not yet NFL players at the expense of those who are. I mean, if there's a cap in place, only so many guys can get paid. If vets want to get theirs, they need to put a cap on how much top 10 picks can get. I honestly don't understand why they don't let the owners establish a rookie salary system in return for a salary floor to go along with the cap. That would mean that the teams can't lowball rookies and vets so the vets would obviously get taken care of.
polksalet
Davis would have ben better off paying me $50 to mail him a turd in a box and spending the rest on a decent rb and a couple of o-lineman.
budlitebrad
So it will end up being about $125 mil guaranteed for the top 4 picks.

That was my thought. Who is gonna block for this kid? Their best O-Lineman is now a Charger (Newberry). BeeR
If you don't believe DMC As entry #1 into the 08 gay nicknames for playahs arrives. That does seem like a helluva lot for a rook RB though, even the 1.04. Is the rook cap a lot larger this year or - ?

I still think Bush will have something to say. They drafted McF that high, so they have NO CHOICE but to pay him that much because of the stupid rookie salarie getting just a tad out of hand. But to think that McF will be THE GUY, well, in my opinion, it will still be both he and Bush (if he remains healthy). If Bush cant recover or play as he did in college, then it will be McF all to himself for the most part, but I honestly think Bush will do better than most think. detlef
Couldn't agree more!! This is getting out of control. Stewert, Mendenhall, and Felix Jones are going to get a fraction of what McFadden got. Are they 5x less likely to be studs than he is? Once again, it will be proven very soon that having a top 10 pick is a bad thing.
budlitebrad
It'll probably take a decent chunk out of the rookie pool for the rest of the Oakland draft picks.
