Not only do I think the NHL should have not suspended him, but they didn't, IMO, even need to acknowledge it in any way. So stupid. The NHL Commissioner should be embarassed. As should Tom Hicks, the Stars' owner be. If the NHL did not act, Hicks would have, he claims. Why? Because he called his exes sloppy seconds? Is the NHL afraid of Martha Burk and NOW? Please...the ony thing I can see is that he made sure he had cameras on him before he said what he said. Otherwise, how does this affect the league? And I agree with CR, they should have ignored it, this is exactly what Avery wanted, more attention. I say rescind the suspension and put Avery back on the ice. If his teammates have any shred of decency in them, they will let the code enforce itself on Avery. Stick him on the ice agains the Flames (or anyone else he took a shot at in the past, Larouque would be a good choice), and let the refs stand back and it will take care of itself.
