watched it last night, it was very good. Mickey Rourke was amazing in it. Did he win the Oscar

for it? Or nominated?

Oh, and the surprise of Marrisa Tomei skin! and the pole dancing!! She's always been a fav of mine.

I'm not ashamed (and I bet not alone) to say I slo-mo'd the pole dancing scene forward and backwards!

Now how many of the people who liked it were wrestling fans during the 80s? Two of my friends who didn't watch wrestling or didn't like it back in the day still loved the movie.

I'm still stunned at Rouke's performance. I've never liked him but right after the scene where he is woken up in his van by the kids I completely forgot I was watching Rouke playing a part. Outstanding performance and he should have won an Oscar for it.

Saw it last night for the first time...my wife had a tough time with it at the end.

She also struggles with any father/daughter conflict in a movie because she tragically lost her dad when she was in college.

However, a very strong movie top to bottom, worthy of all the accolades it got last year!

What did she have an issue with at the end?

I took it as he tried to change his life (with the deli job, developing a real relationship with the stripper and reconnecting with his daughter) but as hard as he tried, life wouldn't let him. The only time he felt human or alive was when he wrestled. Knowing full well that if he stepped in the ring again he would die, he wanted to feel loved again. I thought the final moment of the move was simply outstanding. When he was standing on the ropes and everyone was cheering him on he looked at peace. When he jumped off the ropes he knew doing this would kill him but he couldn't have been happier. It was extremely emotional ending that was simply beautiful.

It was him essentially

killing himself in the ring...knowing that he was going to die. She didn't like the Soprano's fade to black as well.

The most accurate depiction of the state of New Jersey ever filmed.

Watched it last night. I already have an appreciation for movies with original screenplay that can't be lumped into a genre (i.e...mostly "independent" type movies I guess). For whatever minor criticism's I might have, it was vastly outweighed by just how good of an all around movie it was.

I saw it for the first time on HBO last weekend. It was outstanding! Rourke definitely should have won an Oscar for his performance.

I really felt bad for the Ram when he told the stripper that the real world didn't give a s--t about him.
