montster
http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/6815828/...ce=NFLHeadlines The Miami Dolphins are out of the Kyle Orton trade talks for now after they reached a two-year, $5 million deal with Carolina Panthers quarterback Matt Moore, a source confirmed. Moore's deal, first reported in The Oregonian, puts all Orton talks on hold. Moore will compete with Chad Henne and rookie Pat Devlin for playing time. The Dolphins had been talking to the Broncos but never reached a trade agreement that satisfied Broncos president John Elway.
Scooby's Hubby
It's now or never for Henne, although, and please correct me if I am wrong, but Orton puts over $8 million against the cap if still on the team after Aug. 5th. My hunch is that if Denver cannot move him then they cut him and he then can sign with Miami. Please advise.
bpwallace49
What the hell . . . I thought they wanted someone that was better than Henne? I see Morre as being equivalent at best.

I am not a lover of Team Teal, but if the above is true, Miami would be crazy not to go after Orton. I am one of those who feel he is vastly underrated as a QB. No way is Miami saying "Forget Orton, we'll be just fine with Matt Moore"... Apparently the hang-up in the trade talks had been how much Orton was set to make, so it looks to me too like they're playing hard ball with Denver, knowing that at some point they will have to just cut him or do something to dump that money he's set to make... You get a more proven guy for cheaper in Orton. Not sure why they threw all that money at the unproven Kolb with Orton being the safer bet, imo. Orton has 10x the experience as a starter. Old Money
Miami now has two backup quarterbacks and are still looking for their starter. This makes no sense to me.
Duchess Jack
I actually kind of wanted them to sign Moore. I believe he has quite a bit of upside with how he ended the season a couple years ago, preseason and the first couple weeks aside (I mean, he players for the Panthers). I feel Orton, Kolb or Young might have just been made the starter and ruined Henne's chances of proving himself. I want to see what he can do with the new tools, the new OC and the confidence and chemestry that came with him running all the camps that he did this year. Square
i disagree. never liked what i saw from him.. frequently saved by acrobatic catches. better than average and reliable is how i view him I don't know, he was on pace for a ton of yards last year (until they started putting in Tebow). That and I don't remember too many amazing WRs he was throwing to in Denver or Chicago. I definitely think a running team like Miami would be a good fit for him. I'm not saying he is great, but if you want a game manger, that can throw to Marshall and win games.. I'd think Orton fits that pretty well. Bier Meister
lol you listed those players like theyre a good receiving corp or something........ The 09 broncos were a good corp. Have you actually watched his games? Very mediocre and those guys made him look good
Zooty
Kyle Orton - QB - Broncos The Miami Herald confirms that the Dolphins' attempts to trade for Kyle Orton are not over. The main stumbling block here appears to be Orton, who is entering the final year of his contract, agreeing to a new deal with the Dolphins. If the Broncos inform Orton that he won't be starting over Tim Tebow, perhaps he'll see an opportunity to beat out Chad Henne in Miami and lower his demands. We'll be hearing plenty more about this situation over the next week. Related: Dolphins Source: Miami Herald
Ditkaless Wonders
The 09 broncos were a good corp. Have you actually watched his games? Bronco Billy
Guys! 2 yrs for $5 for a QB in the NFL is backup money, and not even very highly priced backup money for the position. Moore was not picked up to be the starter. This signing rates one hair above completely insignificant on the FF radar.
Bronco Billy
lol I remember how annoyed you were when we signed Chris Simms for $6mil over two years. They could have signed me for half that much and would have gotten the exact same value added to the team.
Bier Meister
Or did Orton make them look good? How many of the listed receivers had their best year the year that Orton was throwing to them? the wr's did better with other guys under center the year before orton arrived in denver: marshall: 104 rec 1265 yds royal (as a rooke): 91 rec for 980 yds cutler threw for 4526 yds.. what qb wouldn't want a pair of 1000 yd wr's? chi, he had a very different scheme and forte to hand off (1200 yd rusher) and no bb, i didn't think they were done when they signed matt moore Edited July 30, 2011 by Bier Meister
Bronco Billy
I look forward to reading your posts about how annoyed you continue to be with our Broncos since the owner has no cash. Maybe next year the team will be able to afford to make some moves? This could be a blessing in disguise, Ope Teams committed to building through the draft did awfully well last year - and I think DEN's draft this year will turn out to be very very good in retrospect in a couple of years. I see a lot of vision being used (finally). Edited July 30, 2011 by Bronco Billy
HutOne
I just heard on NFL network that don't rule out an Orton deal just yet. They said they were close to a deal but the biggest hang up was Ortons contract. He would have to restucture it for the Dolphins to get him.
