According to Spotrac, Hockenson will make $536,000 as his base salary this season with the Vikings. He’s set to make $9.39 million next season with Minnesota, which is the final year of the four-year $19.8 million deal he signed. The Lions did pick his fifth-year option prior to trading him this year. Hockenson carries a dead cap hit of $9.9 million this season. The Lions have a dead cap hit of $5.9 million as a result of this trade.

Hockenson is set to be a free agent after the 2023 season

Pretty cheap for a pro bowl TE for 10 games this year

no confidence in Mundt as a receiver.

Irv maybe out longer than expected

Great move!

Mundt ??? (never heard of the guy) , it appears the Vikings gave him more of a chance than the Rams did over 5 years. He had 13 targets with the Rams, playing in 47 games with 3 starts. In his 6 games with the Vikings he already has more targets at 14 (also more receptions and TDs but not yards) than in his entire career before that.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Irv Smith (ankle) is expected to be sidelined 8-10 weeks.

Well, that helps explain some of the motivation behind the T.J. Hockenson deal for Minnesota. Smith would miss most if not all of the remainder of the season with this injury timetable. The 2019 second-rounder has played just 20 games in the last three years and will likely be available in free agency.
