Probably has something to do with XP now (as of 2015) being kicked from further back (LOS is 15 making the kick from 32yd away, vs LOS in the past at the 2 for 19yd distance). How many kickers from prior generations dealt with that? ETA: saw other replies after posting that touched on this, the numbers are down, there is no denying it. I suspect if you looked at the percentage of FGs made from similar distances in the past the numbers are not far off (99% when only a chip shot of 20yards vs. about 5% lower when kicked from 10-15 yards further away). Keep in mind, if every team is playing that is 16 games, if each game has 6 TDs (probably a lot) that's 100 per week and therefore 5-6 missed XPs.
