policyvote
* The Niners are looking hard at Rodgers, not Smith. There's still too much negative vibe about Smith, the system he played in, coming out early, etc. etc. * I'm not sure that the Brownies will go QB, though it would make plenty of sense. * Benson is slow and people question his heart. The big bruiser type backs just don't do well in the NFL; either they don't produce or they get hurt a lot when they do. If the Bears go RB here they'll take Cadillac (who can catch). I think Benson may slide, especially if any of the available vets fill one of the available starting jobs. * Everyone thinks the Cards will go RB--and they may--but this is the first pick of Kiper's that's really impressed me. The Cards haven't had an impact player on defense EVER, and I think Denny may surprise some people by taking the first impact LB to come out in years. Nobody's thought of this yet, and I like this pick. * The 'Skins need OL help badly, but not LT help. They may trade down on draft day and pick up a guy like David Baas much later. If they stay put and Williams is there, I can see them going that way too. * I think the Lions go with Barron if he's there, or Merriman. Cody is an interesting prospect, but the Lions already have several 'interesting prospects' at DE. Merriman has fearsome speed and tools. Even though everyone falls all overthemselves calling him a 'tweener, the man weighed in at 272 for the combine and still ran a 4.6. That's bigger than Dwigh Freeney and he does plenty fine as a 4-3 end. I mean, come on, when was the last time you saw a 272-pound linebacker? If the Lions go DE it'll be Merriman. * Carlos Rogers goes six picks before Antrel Rolle?? * Antrell Rolle is the FOURTH CB taken???? * If the Chargers get Clayton at 1.28 they'll be turning cartwheels. That would be a great pick for them. Peace policy

CaP'N GRuNGe
Couple comments: 1) I don't see the Vikings going CB at #18 with Winfield and Smoot entrenched as the starters and Brian Williams a not too terrible nickle back. 2) Read on another board the other day from someone that supposedly knows Rodgers that he has bought/or is buying a house in SF so his selection by the Niners is a done deal. Heresay yes, but the post seemed detailed and believable.
godtomsatan
23. Seattle Seahawks: Shaun Cody, DE/DT, USCCody would be a nice addition to a line that already includes Pro Bowl player Chad Brown. Cody has the size and versatility to play end or tackle and was a major force for the nation's leading rush defense. Since when does Chad Brown play on the line? Skilly
Why has Rolle dropped so far? And does anybody know anything about this kid Ware from Troy? Kiper describes him as "undersized". Great. That's just what Denver needs, another undersized lineman.
MikesVikes
I'm hoping that the top QBs don't slide past 1.07. Let the Vikes get the choice of who they want.

skins
SD gets Spears and Clayton. Not bad. Not bad at all!! 755159[/snapback] I like Spears a lot. Wish he went to the Redskins. Though Williams at 9 would be excellent. Him on one side, Santana Moss on the other, Patten, Taylor Jacobs and Thrash filing in the rest sounds just fine to me with Portis and Cooley at TE. I also think the Redskins O Line will be very good this year with Jansen back and Samuels signed. I would be happy if they stayed at 9 and took Williams. WaterMan
14. Carolina Panthers: Troy Williamson (jr.), WR, South CarolinaWilliamson showed great speed at the combine and would be a nice option for a team that lost Muhsin Muhammad in free agency. Williamson did not play in a passing offense in college but has the speed all teams are looking for. I told this to a friend as a joke but now I see that a lot of people, including me, are thinking this is possible.
Bill Swerski
No way the Bears take a RB at #4 one year after signing Thomas Jones. They have more pressing needs at OL, DL, and DB. Hell, they'd be better off taking a WR. That said, they will have to take a RB later to replace A-Train.

I wasn't surprised by Sauerbraun he had some serious guns 2 seasons ago, that magically went away last year.

It makes sense and will be likely if Williams is gone by then.
