mitpdub
ESPN ticker shows that Gore plans to hold out for new contract. If SF was making a run at Nnamdi, toes this throw a wrench in their plans? The niners are 19 Mil under the cap. They release David Carr for 2.3 mil and reportedly have told Clements he will be released adding another 15 mil in cap room. Without re-upping Gore and counting rookies, we have 36mil of room to work a deal under 2011.
Czarina
The cap is obviously pure fantasy, given how Holme's new contract is structured. $50million in compensation, yet the cap hit in year one is just over $2mill. Why do they even bother pretending in the NFL that there's a cap? The new CBA apparently even allows a one year exception for $3 mill and allows borrowing against future years. Silliness. The Wolf
Does it matter, this team will be lucky to lose another AFC Champ game next season. They have become the yankees, trying to buy or acquire as many stars from other teams as possible. Will be fun to watch REX CHOKE on his brash words again next year. Cant Wait. Coming from a cowboys fan, I'll take this as a compliment...

Cunning Runt
NFLN is reporting that the Texans are now into the lead to sign him. This is where the talking heads on Sirius have been saying he'll end up for the last couple months. Worst pass defense in the league by far last year. Brent
Everything's bigger in Texas...including the failures Yep, and you would trade franchise history with the Dallas Cowboys every day of the week, and twice on Sunday. So what was a bigger failure, The spankees losing to Texas in the ALCS, or Texas losing to the Giants in the WS.

You wrote that the Jets are trying to "buy or acquire as many stars from other teams as possible." Coming from a fan of Jurrah's Team, your statement is the pot calling the kettle black. One more thing...aside from Santonio, who have the Jets bought? The key pieces were drafted or traded for. Imagine Jurrah keeping his draft picks long enough to do that... Imagine Jurrah keeping his draft picks long enough to do that... yea, they are trying to buy or acquire as many stars as possible. LT, Braylon, Santonio, Cromartie, Jason Taylor, and now rumblings of Randy Moss and Nmandi. And Im not even going to call Bart Scott a star, he is nothing more than a fraud on the field. Get real, the Jets are turning into the Redskins. Who is the last star player Jerry has bought. TO 5 years ago? Look Im not saying Jerry doesnt like to make a splash with a signing or trade, but he has never had the kind of year and a half run this team is on trying to acquire as many stars or former stars as the Jets. Keeping what picks, Dez Bryant, Demarcus Ware, Jason Witten. All 3 the Jets would love to have. Or how bout this years 1st rounder Tyron Smith, or even our undrafted players like Miles Austin and Tony Romo. Who have the Jets drafted that are better than these guys. Revis maybe, Mangold, though how much of an upgrade is he over our probowler Gurode. Lets see what a Ryan will do for our defense this year. He also hasn't been to back to back conference championship games either...and played all playoff games on the road while doing it. LT was $2 mil a year...not a big number. Braylon, Santonio, Cromartie...all were traded for. Jason Taylor...what did he get, vets minimum, maybe a million? Moss is a rumor and in this market, every NY-area team is tied to every big name out there. Nnamdi is interesting, because he's on record as saying he would like to play with Revis and for Rex. If the team didn't look into this, they're shirking their responsibilities. Kickin the tires is different than buying every good player. And remember, where a lot $$$ is spent, something else suffers. That's why a cap works.

delusions of grandeur
Rut Roh... Texans sign Jonathan Joseph to a 5 year deal. It had been believed that SF was out of the running for Asomugha, and that it was down to the Texans and Jets. If true, then this is not good news for offensive coordinators around the NFL.
