DexterDew
I have no idea what they heck is going on with Branch. There are some teams that could really use him because of lack of talent/depth at WR, or teams with WRs that are dinged with bad "hammies"... but I don't know what the market will bear in trade for NE, or if this is a negotiation ploy. it does make for some interesting mental gymnastics.... Frank Booth
I know a team that wears a green uniform and has helmet with a bird's wing on it that could use another WR. They could also use a RB that can stay healthy as well.

Bring Back Pat!!!
Yet another player getting HORRIBLE advise from an agent. If Deion would just come to camp, play hard, and put up the numbers everyone knows he would in this offense, he could actually get his pay day next year because he would have actually EARNED it!! As it stands now, he has had one 'good' year, and a great SB. Big deal. Timmy Smith had a great SB. If he played hard and caught 80+ balls this year for 1300+ yards and 10+ tds, then he would get paid!!!

Caveman_Nick
Branch has been a flashy, yet wholly unreliable player. Too many games missed. He's a good player, and will be missed by the fans, but I think the team will be okay without him.
Caveman_Nick
but does this hurt brady at all? Not remotely. Brady has had 3 very good fantasy seasons in a row, deomonstrating remarkable consistancy. They have had WR question marks the whole time. He will keep finding the open guys and keep making good throws to them.
Randall
but does this hurt brady at all? He'll throw to whatever 600 players they have on the field. Hell if the janitor's open Brady'll get him the damn ball.
Flip_Side
but does this hurt brady at all? Givens, and Branch gone now, I think it does. He can't just throw to Chad Jackson(rookie) and Ben Watson the whole time...

You have to go all the way back to 2001 to find the last New England WR to have over 1000 yds in a season. Troy Brown had 1199 on 101 rec and only 5 TDs. There's no way Branch will put up those numbers with the way NE spreads the ball around.

Then the Packers SCREWED HIM, this is a business fellas. Sorry but I am on the players side when it come to those dollars. Because they can cut u at anytime and you lose that money. VS. u being able to leave them. This aint the NBA. Contracts not guarnteed even if you blow out both your knees.
HowboutthemCowboys
on the Dan Patrick show, he said Mort will be on in 10 minutes to discuss just caught Mort on espn radio and he said he thought that NE's idea here is that Branch will find that what they offered him will equal or exceed what anyone else is willing to give him. I think he should look up the Redskins, who seem to be all about overpaying very average wr's. edit for spelling Edited August 25, 2006 by HowboutthemCowboys
FishFreak
What's the big deal? Branch is overrated, injury prone and hasn't even had a 1,000 yard season. He's not worth what ever raise he wants from his current deal. The Pats are wise not to cave in BUT Brady should be downgraded even though he spreads the ball around a lot. Losing your no. 1 and 2 receivers from last year is A LOT to overcome. I don't see a team dealing with the Pats. They would have to give up a draft pick and negotiate a higher deal Branch isn't worth. Then again, I'm sure there is some team dumb enough out there to do that. Balzac
just caught Mort on espn radio and he said he thought that NE's idea here is that Branch will find that what they offered him will equal or exceed what anyone else is willing to give him. I think they're right - especially this close to opening day. That said, Givens got a mess of money and I don't think he's quite as good as Branch. Ben Watson will be the guy to watch this year - if he stays healthy, I think he's in for a tremendous season.
jaxfactor
Vikes? I wouldn't count out San Diego either. McCardell is getting real old. What about another Branch on da Raidas? After they sh*t can Jerry Porter.
