Big Country
I enjoyed it. My mother in law and her husband (she is late 50's, he is mid 60's) did not. I have a feeling I know why they did not like it, but have not had the chance to speak to them to find out why (His brother passed away last night, so they are on a plane to Ireland for the services). I did see Departed in the theatres, and I just saw the Pursuit of Happyness a couple weekends ago with my wife.
Chavez
You should also check out the original, Infernal Affairs; I've heard from several people that The Departed is BETTER than the source material, which would make it a PHENOMENAL f*cking movie, because IA is really, really good. Piles
I wasn't really impressed with The Departed. Maybe b/c it was so hyped up but I didn't think it was all that great. I thought it was pretty forgetable to be honest.

Some plot holes that were weak - and I was kind of dissapointed.
max
I enjoyed it. I rarely see movie trailers anymore so I didn't see all the hype about the film before I saw it. Good movie IMO.

rocknrobn26
Ok....old guy here. I have a hard time telling the diff between Damon & Leo! So I wasn't sure what was going on at some points. The ending was a shock though. Nicholson had some "Shining" showing, but Sheen seemed to be walking through the scenes. I've seen him Much better! All in all....a decent movie, but not a 9/10. For Scorcese.... Goodfellas, Casino, Gangs of NY, Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, and the Color of Money were all better! JMHO!

myhousekey
I liked it. Wasn't great, but compared to all the other garbage I've seen lately on DVD it was nice to finally watch something decent.
Clubfoothead
The previews I've seen look good. Can you rent it yet?

Dr. Rock
I loved it! Especially Alec Baldwin's small role. Hey, it's a great movie if you like seeing people get shot in the face.
Azazello1313
I enjoyed it. I rarely see movie trailers anymore so I didn't see all the hype about the film before I saw it. Good movie IMO. same here. i just went in knowing scorsese, jack....that was pretty much enough to convince me it was worth seeing. didn't know anything about it beyond that. anyway, i don't know if it ranks with goodfellas, but i thought it was an excellent flick. Azazello1313
For Scorcese.... Goodfellas, Casino, Gangs of NY, Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, and the Color of Money were all better! JMHO! IMO... better than 'the departed' -- goodfellas, taxi driver, raging bull about as good as 'the departed' - mean streets, gangs of NY, casino, the last waltz, after hours not as good as 'the departed' - color of money, cape fear, bringing out the dead
rocknrobn26
One question..... Do you think Scorcese dyes his eyebrows?
REZ
Departed is a good flick. Not a great one. Scorcese wins the Oscar for a movie that probably isn't in his top 5.
Menudo
I loved it. However, I agree that I wouldn't put it up with Goodfellas............very good though.

Dirty Sanchez
Departed is a good flick. Not a great one. Scorcese wins the Oscar for a movie that probably isn't in his top 5. Scorcese even admitted that when he made The Departed he wasn't expecting it to be an award contender. That being said, I agree that although it wasn't his best film (Goodfellas & Raging Bull were better IMO) it was by far the best film I saw in 2006. Thus it deserved the Best Picture Oscar. Although I enjoyed Casino more than the Departed- Casino setting and DeNiro & Pesci were money.. Departed was good, solid flick but kind of forgettable.
