SpinalTapp
The Bears numbers vs TEs last year were ridiculous. Almost no TEs scored against their D and very few TEs put up good receiving totals. I know this is against the rules, but should I consider benching Gates this week? As of now, he is still active in my lineup. Someone talk me into sitting Gates and starting Davis...... Zooty
You have to start Gates (every week). Plus Davis hasn't proven that he will be hugh every week
Jeff MacMillan
You have to start Gates (every week). Plus Davis hasn't proven that he will be hugh every week I'm playing Vernon Davis and my opponent has Antonio Gates. This ought to be interesting to see which TE ends up on top this year. I'm feeling a Vernon Davis upset over Antonio Gates for Week 1! :-) Of course, If I had Antonio Gates.... I would start Gates over Vernon absolutely. Always start the best Week 1. hutchprime
I say let Vernon actually SHOW us something before you sit Gates for him.
lawn saver
Davis might just out perform Gates this week, but You drafted Gates for a reason. Use him. Rivers will be looking to him often
Tega
I'd play Gates. SD's def should turnover recoveries against Grossman. I think it will put SD in scoring position. It's Gates or LT this week. Good luck.
Cowboyz1
Rivers finds Gates Period. Never sit Gates.
Skilly
Vernon Davis is playing against the Cardinals, not the Rams. Not that it matters----start Gates.
PantherDave
Also, Gates is not their only concern, as the Bolts may keep the Bears guessing with LT and Gates-so I'd start Gates and LT owners should start LT.
jvmillion83
I think Rivers will be dumping out alot of short range passes in this one as Chicagos defense looks to pressure. Always start the elite studs. Go Gates definitely. http://forums.thehuddle.com/index.php?showtopic=215811 Edited September 8, 2007 by jvmillion83
tbimm
LT owners should start LT. There is the understatement of the year!
PantherDave
There is the understatement of the year! Hey man, I'm just doing what I can-when I can, because some momo is going to see "Bears DT" and become an instant FF idiot.....Bears or no Bears....LT and Gates are a definent GO. Square
I'd start Gates and hope VD has a big week and start shopping him for an upgrade on your team. Other than a bye week, there wouldn't be any circumstance (outside of freak injury) that I'd sit Gates. VD has some positive buzz. If he puts up a big game, you might be able to get a solid RB/WR for him. No need to keep both.
Gros Membres!
How on earth do you have Gates and Davis on your team? Wait for Davis to have a good week and move him for a RB2 or a WR.
broncosn05
Vernon Davis is playing against the Cardinals, not the Rams. Not that it matters----start Gates. Just amazing that people don't notice this and questioning having Gates and Davis....
zumpellaj
Those are two great TE's do you have a flex position that is weak, if so start two TE's, I've done that in the past where my WR3-4 were hurt or playing bad. How did you draft two TE's that good? If you have to pick one start Gates, I agree with everyone else, he'll get his one way or another he's still Rivers #1 target especially in the Red Zone, if LT isn't scoring Gates is, bottom line. SpinalTapp
Gros, I ended up with VDavis and Gates on my team because I was able to keep Davis heading into this season and I drafted Gates with my 4.2 pick (I can now keep him for the next three years). Gates was simply the best available player on the board when I drafted with the second pick in the fourth round and I could not pass him up even though I had Davis - just was not sure if Davis was the real deal yet and was not going to put all my eggs in that basket with Gates falling to me at 4.2. I was shocked he dropped into the fourth round - but he did because every RB on the board was taken in rounds 1-3. Needless to say, I will be looking to package up Gates and another WR to make a big upgrade at my #2 WR spot. Right now, I have Plaxico as my #2 and I am worried about his production this year.
