When I first saw the title I immediately thought of changing it but then I remembered that really is exactly what she was.

I was hoping you would recognize that. I didn't know what else to say.

Dupre writes that she left home at 17 to begin "my odyssey to New York."

"It was my decision, and I've never looked back," she writes. "Left my hometown. Left a broken family. Left abuse. Left an older brother who had already split. Left and learned what it was like to have everything, and lose it, again and again.

"Learned what it was like to wake up one day and have the people you care about most gone. I have been alone. I have abused drugs. I have been broke and homeless. But, I survived, on my own. I am here, in NY because of my music."

Doesn't sound like someone who would end up as a whore...

Well, I just got back from our Nation's Capital. My national association as an advocacy summit this time every year. I left Pierre Monday morning and was feeling a little under the weather. Plane delayed in Minneapolis, not helping my flu/cold/food poisoning etc, I tried to sleep on the plane which is difficult for me, get to Reagan National bags take forever. Walk out of the airport get in the cab and I say to the cab driver, (hotel name) please lay my head back and try to hold on until I get there. I roll up in front of the hotel get out bellman comes out to get my bags, I have my head down really not paying attention. I gave the driver my money and as I do I suddenly notice that every major news and television station has a van double parked across the street and there are cameras everywhere. I didn't think much of it, this is DC after all. I go in check in get my room number, and head up to the 7th floor of the Mayflower Renaissance. I feel like I took part in history. We all tried to go to the eighth floor to take a picture of the infamous room, but three very large armed men asked us to get back on the elevator. So I bought a coffee mug for my desk. Pretty interesting to be there. The hotel did a very good job of keeping the press at bay. They were out there everytime we left so I am probably on the national news on some station.

E2A: It really is not that nice a hotel. I have stayed in better, and their meeting rooms are small.
