budlitebrad
The Bengals are doing the right thing. If they trade him it sets a precedent that if you cry enough, you can get your way. If CJ wants a trade that bad, he should buy himself out of there. What's $3 million divided by 17? If he is still a Bengal by next season, he will show up to play. Bronco Billy
...for the fans sake. What CIN is doing is for the fans' sake. They aren't letting the players & agents take over the game. If that isn't some sacrifice on their part on behalf of the league and the fanbase as a whole to maintain the quality of the league, I don't know what is - even if people like you don't realize it. budlitebrad
Also keep in mind that Mike Brown was the owner that put the loyalty clause into player contracts back in 2000. If it were still in effect, Johnson would be paying back part of that big signing bonus that he received as advanced payment for future services. Bronco Billy
Then they should accept the cancer coming this season. That can be dealt with by CIN also. It's in the CBA and is defined as "conduct detrimental to the team".

piratesownninjas
Instead of "Free Chad" it should be "stop stupidity"
Dutch Oven
So did TO, but he was crying that he "had to feed his family". At least I think it was him... I think that was Latrell Spreewell actually.
peepinmofo
I think that was Latrell Spreewell actually. Im pretty sure TO said something to that affect as well... but again, I might be wrong. Either way, its pathetic when a pro athlete says that.
AtomicCEO
I wanted Chad to come to Denver, until I saw who his agent was. Good Lord, man. No. Are you crazy?
tonorator
your title got the first letter of the four letter word preceding chad's name correct, but the rest needs changed.
MrTed46
That can be dealt with by CIN also. It's in the CBA and is defined as "conduct detrimental to the team". How does tha help the Bengals? Give him the "conduct detrimental to the team" or trade him for some compensation. I know what your saying with taking a stand but in terms on business and football doesnt make much sense. Just trade him and the problem is solved alot more efficient with making a stand. History has proven that taking a stand will not stop people from doing this. jaxfactor
your title got the first letter of the four letter word preceding chad's name correct, but the rest needs changed. Should I start a F'k Chad Johnson thread?
Bronco Billy
I know what your saying with taking a stand but in terms on business and football doesnt make much sense. Really? So instant gratification for one's selfish purposes is more important than the league as a whole? You don't think with profit sharing that the Bengals don't benefit in a tangible way in a business sense? As far as their own football team, by giving into CJ, all they do is encourage the next guy with an issue to do the exact same thing. So where would you draw the line? Right after Johnson departs? After another 5 disgruntled players get traded? Maybe after 10 more players? Never? Sending a strong message hurts the team short term but reinforces what your position is in the long term for all the players in no uncertain terms, which helps long term. You're missing the forest for the trees.
