You think they're going to bench FWP? I don't see it.

I think FWP will share the carries this year. Mendenhall is a long term player in my opinion.

Bench? No. But I do see Mendenhall doing the heavy lifting in the second half of the year while FWP does 3rd down duty.

I ain't buying it.

Well, that is just my opinion. I have been wrong numerous times before.

Isn't anybody else scared that Mendenhall is the next Big Ten bust? He has one year of production in college of note. I'd be pretty worried drafting him, even in a dynasty league, in all honesty.

nope, the Steelers are golden

:D

Well, Taz looks like a good addition to the board. Nothing brings out passion quite like a guy who roundly insults everyone who doesn't agree with him and then acts hurt and picked on a couple posts later.

:D

Being drunk always helps too.

I actually liked Barber more than Maroney coming out of Minnesota, He wasn't nearly as one dimensional as Laurence.

Having said that, I was upset the Cowboys chose him in the fourth round that year. I saw no need to take him with the superstar Julius Jones coming off a promising rookie year and with Sean Considine still on the board with a glaring need to take a safety.

What are your thoughts on Tashard Choice? I'm not a big Felix Jones fan and I surely don't hide it. Choice is often compared to Barber (lack of speed, iffy hands) but I think, if presented with the chance because of injury to Barber or Jones, would flourish in a RBBC.

Barber was never accused of having iffy hands in college. He was a weapon catching the ball out of the backfield, although he was just as adept at picking up the blitz in passing situations.

I saw Choice play twice last year and he appeared solid and workmanlike in both games. Solid but nothing spectacular. I know there are some guys who love him and think he could be hugh in the league if given a chance. I'm not one of them. At best he's an insurance policy if Barber gets injured. I don't think we'll see much of him on the field the next 3-4 years unless that happens. JMHO.

Got an even bigger one for you. What about Steve Slaton?

I think a lot of people were surprised by Slaton. If I recall correctly, he didn't have a great combine and was having serious fumbling problems. He finished the season on a tear (not hitting any kind of rookie wall). He'll fly under the radar a bit next year as everyone's jumping on the likes of Chris Johnson in PPRs. I still think the Texans will try to add some sort of bruiser (they'll let all that fluff go) to complement Slaton.

I liked him coming out of WV but kept hearing about his size. From his combine coverage.

Analysis

Positives: Short, but has a powerful, compact frame. ... Good initial quickness. ... Good vision. ... Good lateral agility to slide down the line and shows the burst to explode through the line when he sees the hole. ... Rare acceleration into the open field. ... Soft, secure hands out of the backfield.

Negatives: Lacks prototype size and explosiveness for the position. ... Good acceleration to burst for big plays but there are questions about his ability to truly breakaway from defenders in the open field. ... No major injuries over his career, but has a tendency to get nicked up. ... Played in an offense perfectly suited to his ability. ... With defenses spread out to protect against QB Pat White and others, Slaton often didn't have to meet his first defender until a few yards past the line of scrimmage. ... Has the skill set to be a return specialist, but has limited experience here.
