i_am_the_swammi
Due to arrive in US Coastal cities next week....already an enormous Category 4 Hurricane, and rapidly gaining strength...was just a tropical depression 2 days ago! http://www.weather.com/maps/news/atlstorm9...lite_large.html I feel for you southerners. Big John
I already don't like Ike.
i_am_the_swammi
If you click on the drop-down menu beneath the satelite, you can opt to see the trajectory...expected to crush the Carribean Monday-Tuesday, at which point they'll know whether it heads to the Gulf, or up the coast. Looks sinister, doesn't it? makes Hannah look like a rain shower.
untateve
I am watching Ike very closely. I have 35 gallons of gas for my generator, food supplies, water, cash, etc. However, if Ike plans to make landfall near my home as a 3 or stronger, I'm loading up the family (including my dog) and driving to my brother's home in North Carolina. My house has survived 3 direct hits by Cat 3 storms since 2004 with very little damage (screens/a few roof shingles gone), but I'm not taking chances. wiegie
Ike's current track looks really bad for Miami.
BiggieFries
If this stays on its current track (Ike Track), the Gulf Coast is in for some more fun.

i_am_the_swammi
Weather Underground >>> Weather.com On the tracking map, it shows it currently as a CAT3, backing off to a CAT2 as it crusies thru cooler water.....then kicking up to a CAT4 once it hits warmer Gulf waters. This one could get real ugly, real fast. Nice link, too.
Missoula Griz
Nice link, too. Yes, very good info on this website. This is one for you down there to monitor very seriously.
Venus
I'm sitting through Hanna right now. It just started to rain hard.
muck
Hanna generated massive flooding in Haiti, destroying quite a bit of infrastructure that has been built to support orphanages there. Ike, quickly on its heels, will be awful.
rajncajn
Computer models are looking pretty nasty for a lot of folks. This thing could very well skirt across the Southern end of Florida & then rebuild again once it hits the Gulf.
Choppy
Here's hoping all you Gulf coasters can dodge another bullet. Good luck and stay safe. It's a ways off yet so hopefully the tracking projections are wrong.

i_am_the_swammi
Good news: seems to have weakend a tad to a CAT2. Bad news: the warm Gulf waters will likely change that. here's hoping it trends due west, rather than get pulled north by the jet stream, once it enters the Gulf. Feeling for my southern brotha's....were getting the remnants of Hannah just now, and I'm complaining......guess I should count my blessings.
