moneymakers
Me remember Jimmy Carter. Iran laughing at us and the recession in full steam. got rid of him and Hostages came home. Russia cooled its wheels. Do you really want to go back to that time again? People I really hope this country is not that stupid. If Mr. I want all your change gets elected with a democratic congress we are all doomed. Do you really want Pelosi and frank running the show? Those two have been running it for 2 years now and the economy has been in decline ever sense. wake up.
Ursa Majoris
If the market falling causes people to spend less and people spending less causes the market to fall, as happened yesterday, how is this spiral of self-perpetuating disaster going to be halted? More bailouts. Bailouts for everyone! No cutting in line.
TimC
More bailouts. Bailouts for everyone! No cutting in line. Bernake and Paulson are idiots of epic proportions. If these idiots had 1 brain cell that contained common sense, I'd be shocked.
moneymakers
Reason Market is falling is People are selling it all and liquidating. Like myself. I am done with that roller coaster for awhile. I now have no interest in the market. If I want to roll the dice I can go to Vegas. Raising the FDIC insurance to 250,000 works for me. CaP'N GRuNGe
With the current deficit, a war(s), social security looming, Medicare looming even bigger then SS and bailouts, does anyone think that the next POS, regardless of party, will be able to lower taxes? I doubt that either party has the sack to cut spending enough to solve those issues and cut taxes. We've gone from POTUS to POS.
CaP'N GRuNGe
Let's say the Government does have immediate massive spending cuts. What do you think that will do to the economy in the short run?

The Irish Doggy
Me remember Jimmy Carter. Iran laughing at us and the recession in full steam. got rid of him and Hostages came home. You need to re-read history. Carter had his faults for sure - especially economic - but his administration was the one responsible for getting those hostages back. And Reagan's good ole' administration really showed those Iranians by selling them guns later on huh?

I must of forgot about that while I was waiting in the gas line. Jimmy was down right embarrassing. Dont need to reread history I lived thru it. You people have no idea what you are getting into if you let this country be run by these left wing socialist.

AtomicCEO
so have those people earn it. dont be a parasite to the successful. This must be that awesome republican strategy that's working so well this year. I've heard of it. The economy is booming under democratic leadership Then you claim that it will get better by giving tax breaks to the rich Instead the economy tanks Then you mock the people who have it hard because you tanked the economy. Smooth. How's that re-election thing going?

Ursa Majoris
Lloyd Blankfein, CEO of GS filthy slimy crook, says the FED needs to print $4T USD...we just printed about $1.4T earlier this year.......and another 4 trillion!? I don't see it. With as many people that are struggling right now, introducing inflation into the mix would be suicide.
Avernus
I don't see it. With as many people that are struggling right now, introducing inflation into the mix would be suicide. that's what he said and given the FED's history, printing more money isn't out of the question....especially since about half the money supply is actually paper money - a run on the banks right now would cause the system to crumble, but this generation doesn't think like that (yet).... imo the current system needs to crumble and start over again, but it appears that whenever we make a change it happens to be for the worse in the long-term...but I'm sure you'll disagree with me on just about everything I just said.. muck
Deflationary pressures are near-term. Inflationary pressures are further out down the road (and are significant). [ominous music]I'm beginning to have the view that we will be in a mildly deflationary environment for a period (maybe as long as 2-5 years), and then inflation wil flip on like a light switch, and in the span of a couple of weeks / months, everything will change. Brentastic
I don't see it. With as many people that are struggling right now, introducing inflation into the mix would be suicide. Yeah, but GS doesn't care about anything other than profit for themselves. Of course they want more money in the system, they're trying to grab every last bit of cash they can before the deflationary depression is in full force. They didn't become the giant vampire squid by playing nice - they're ruthless crooks who have played their role in the raping of America.
