gbpfan1231
I know it is looked down on but I have noticed a lot less topics on things that pertain to politics - I see there was one not long ago and already has been guneed. With that it is my opinion that the Tailgate has lost a lot of it's appeal. Now I am stuck seeing topics on Soupy Sales (two), and Battlestar Gallactica. Give me a break. Bring on the poiltics - I actually think I learn a lot by reading the different opinions and I know they sometimes get out of hand but I am pretty sure we are all adults here and if you can't take then go cry about Soupy Sales. whomper
I dont really call what you guys do in here talking about politics. Its just the right taking its turn to jam it up the lefts ass because the left jammed it up the rights ass when Bush was in power. Repetitive nonsense.
Chargerz
If everyone played nice, that would be fine, but political threads invariably degenerate into a bunch of name-calling and offensive posts. Then they get gunned. What's the point?

Then they get gunned. What's the point? Well I read them and I also read a lot of the articles that get linked and I like to read different viewpoints. I am not so think skinned that I get offended by some name calling. I think I outgrew that in the 4th grade. It is the same as the Rate my Team threads. If you don't like it don't click on it. Seems simple to me.

Seems simple to me. It's not about being offended. It is about the fact that once the name calling and immaturity starts the thread loses any sense of political value and becomes the same exact joke of a thread no matter what the topic. When the TG getting over run with repetitive political threads it discourages people from posting other stuff IMO..I still dont know why we dont have a politics forum. Even if we did you bitches would still complain that it wasnt in here. Its about banging your rattles more than the content. Politics forum. Problem solved..There is no single topic that needs its own forum more. I know when I suggested this the other day I was hit with the slippery slope defense "Whats next Religion forum etc" but I dont believe any of those topics are debated as heavily and in as many threads as politics. Not by a long shot. We have heated religion discussions sporadically. You heathen Godless bastards Edited October 23, 2009 by whomper

I for one paid a lot more attention to the tailgate a few months back when there were a lot of political topics. Lately it has been pretty lame. I get what you mean - with a political topic with 40 posts there are probably 10 that say "Have to agree here" - nothing to add to the discussion - I just overlook those and just read on and mostly enjoy reading them. Over the years I cant say I havent learned a thing or two from huddle politics as well , dont get me wrong. But it hardly ends good. nuke'em ttg
when i watch or read politics i don't understand anything that they're sayin ........ the discussions here are easier for me ta understand and i get a general idea on an issue.......but always know that it's a game ta make the otherside look bad in the end.....i really am better at current events and if i'm out can at least start a fight like the pros here

Bier Meister
size has been a factor. when the huddle was a small little community, we were able to talk religion, politics... whatever.. with no holds barred. as a result we got to know where we all stood. even when we bashed the other side it was still done "in fun." politics/religion strike a major cord with many and over time, more and more people started to take it very seriously. so much so that we see people grossly overstepping lines and people being hypersensitve. from a business standpoint it makes little sense for the powers that be to either allow it or regulate it. i think a "hot topic" forum would be great. remove it from the tailgate and let people go to town. topic #1: ponytails on men are ghey. go!
