If you can find any $5 tables on the strip and play either Blackjack or Pai Gow, your money should go a long ways, and...drink yourself in to oblivion.

I for one can account for the Pai Gow, it was a very good baby sitter for me. I think I played for 6+ hours off of $50, correction, I stared at my cards then had the dealer play for me because I had no clue how to play then I would hit Tim C up for a quarter every time. :D

I have to go to Vegas for a "budget" bachelor party this weekend. I'd rather not go; I don't care for Vegas. But if you have any suggestions for what 8 guys can do - on a budget - I'd love to hear some suggestions.

I've only be once, didn't do anything special, but spent a lot of money on drinks and cab rides. (like I couldn't have done that at home). If there are any tips/tricks I should be aware of feel free to share your LV wisdom.

Understand that I have been there 40+ times since 1975(?). Even then I gambled A LOT! Mostly BlackJack, but some carnival games, VP, but virtually no slots. When I'm w/ the wife, during the day I'll gamble and she'll do the pool or go shopping. Then we'll go out for a nice dinner and a show. When we get back, she'll usually go back to the room and I'll gamble a little more. In the early years (thru 1985-6), we'd rent a car we did the Dam tour, went out to "Valley of Fire" state park, and just drove up and down the strip (yeah, back then the traffic wasn't bad) stopping here and there.

I don't think I have many suggs for you and your group. Sports books are everywhere and provide a cheap way of gambling...the ponies & sports events. Some shows are pretty cheap (afternoon ones especially). Cruise  the hotels, take a day trip or 2, see the car museum at the IP, hang at the pool, there's a cool aquarium at Mandalay. I'm sure they are other people here that have gone under similar circumstances as you who would be a better reference. Hope that helped.

you understand that rr brings knee pads, don't you?

I don't need them anymore...they play Craps on tables now. :D

Awesome, they finally got out of the ghetto. :D

Man, I can't believe anyone got comped at the Palazzio. Last time I looked, it was still crazy expensive.

I do have to pay the city's resort fee...$17/day + tax.

I have always told people ALWAYS get a player's card and use it. You get offers that don't show on their normal website.

Back in the late 1990's I was getting full comps, but back then they gave you credits based not only on your minimum bet but also for how long you played, that is a $25 bet for 8 hours was the same as a $50 bet for 4 hours (the req. minimum bet/time/day). That is no longer true as my credits suck, but I replied to an email offer from the Player's Club. It's now average bet only!

BTW...this offer is valid thru the end of April and vary day to day w/ the free days being Sun-Thurs.

You could go to Sahara's and play on their $1 Blackjack tables (24/7) and drink yourself in to oblivion while winning/losing your bankroll a dollar at a time.

I was there a few years back and Casino Royale was the cheapest place I ran into on the strip. Right next to The Flamingo and across from Caesars Palace. They had $3 blackjack and cheap drinks. Some friends of mine have stayed there before and said it was very affordable for being right on the strip. You could also find a limit Hold'em table with low blinds to kill time. Just fold unless you have a good hand or a solid hand + positioning. The blinds were 1 and 3 at the Flamingo if I remember correctly.

That sounds pretty good. I suck at black jack, but I'm okay at poker. Last time I was there my friends and I played in a few $100 buy-in limit hold'em tournaments. That was pretty fun because we were all at the same table. (Though I was kind of shocked at how "seriously silent" everyone was, with their indoor sunglasses, sun visors, tooth picks in their teeth, etc. Freakin' world series of poker wannabes... )

Random questions:

- any bachelor party-appropriate strip club recommendations?

- what is the dress code like in Vegas these days? I haven't been there in 5 years and last time I felt very underdressed in the clubs/restaurants in nice jeans and a dress shirt.

- we're departing on Sunday (during the super bowl... nice planning, rookies). Last time I was there the airport was a freakin' ZOO getting out. Is it like that all the time? How much sooner than my flight should I get there?

Seamless, Scores, Spearmint Rhino

Suit up if you go somewhere nice, at least I would.

Sunday is insane for Vegas departures but it might be a little calmer since you'll be the only people leaving on one of the biggest days in Vegas. Min. 2 hr before flight.

This, though when you are as good looking as I am, the jeans and a T-Shirt look fine.

And for all you WCOFF attendees, Harrah's is right next door to the Venetian, is a heck of a lot cheaper, is a 5 minute walk through the parking structure and are decent enough rooms if you are only worried about a place to crash in the mornings. I've stayed there the last few times I've gone and played tons at the Venetian. A very convenient location and a good way to save a decent amount on the room usually (though, to be fair, I;ve gone with my Dad the last couple times and he gets pretty good rates through them from his players card).

- any bachelor party-appropriate strip club recommendations? I thought this was on a budget? Aren't strip clubs $$$?

- what is the dress code like in Vegas these days? I haven't been there in 5 years and last time I felt very underdressed in the clubs/restaurants in nice jeans and a dress shirt. Some clubs don't allow jeans or tenny's. Can't speak further on them. BUT I have found that no restaurant will reject you if your wearing a nice pair of slacks, collared shirt, and decent shoes.

How much sooner than my flight should I get there? I think you are safe there. Can't believe there will be a major exodus DURING the game. 1.5 hours should be plenty. What "FOOTBALL HATING" women planned the timing?

- Hey, I'm not above going to a "budget" strip club. :D

- I don't want to bring more than a carry on, but don't know what to pack because I have no idea where we're going. (And yes, I know that makes me sound like a chick. )

- You got me, RR. I think these guys are more into playing World of Warcraft than sports. I'm not friends with any other than the groom, which means this whole weekend could be unpredictable.

I really appreciate all the suggestions. At least I'll have some ideas in my back pocket in case there is no plan once we get there.

I went to a bachelor party in Vegas at a club called Sapphire if I remember correctly. It's like America's largest strip club or something. The place is pretty fancy for a strip club and you don't really notice how gigantic it is until you look around and see there are 20-40+ chicks walking around asking guys for lap dances. All the dancers were aces though. This is not a cheap past time though so if you are short on loot plan on finding a club with a low cover and just throw money at the bachelor for 30 minutes, enjoy your $12 bud light, and get the F out of there. There might be some random chicks at a bar who will flash your buddy if you ask them right. I mean, you're in Vegas... It's worth a shot.

Just says $1 domestic drafts. I suppose that means they could be served in dixie cups.

Casino Royale has $1 Michelob in bottles and cheapest tables on the strip. It's a small place, if you're playing cards or dice, the drinks come around quick.

I was out there a couple weeks ago and stayed downtown for the first time at Main Street station. $1.50 Microbrews at the casino bar & they are 'free' if you're playing. Most of the joints down there bring the drinks like clockwork. Plus, instead of cabbing it, you can take the Deuce from the strip to downtown for $3. Not too shabby if you're on a budget.
