TimC
If only we were taxed at 100%, then we could afford everything we need.

westvirginia
I've heard and read that it's not due to anything other than congress' unwillingness to deal with spending. Is this true, anyone in the know?

Big Country
is this good or bad for home sales? From the interview i heard this morning, probably bad. What will happen is that the rate that the country can borrow at will go up, which menas that the rate we as consumers pay for mortgages, credit cards, auto loans, etc. will go up as well. Higher rates likely means less home sales as people won;t be able to afford as much, so either homes won't sell or prices will drop again. yo mama
Good. I hope we do get downgraded. Because it's probably going to take something of that magnitude for Washington to pull its head out of its own ass.

The first sentence . . . . That was hilarious. Nothing a deep cut from "In Living Color" to brighten your day. Well done . . . . Secondly . .. you are correct. And that has nothing to do with the fact that Before Bush there was a budget surplus. The Bush tax cuts and the two wars that will not end are dragging us down even quicker than if they had not occurred and we continued on our merry borrowing way . . .
