The 100 Worst Players in NFL History

Like this guy! He talked so much crap every week but couldn't get out of his own way.

46. Freddie Mitchell

WR; Philadelphia Eagles 2001-04

A player that had little talent and a big mouth, he should consider himself fortunate enough to have made that catch on 4th-and-26 as well as having been able to play in a Super Bowl.

And I can't forget Izel Jenkins, AKA Toast. Possibly the worst DB ever.

91. Tony Mandarich

OL; Green Bay Packers 1989-91, Indianapolis Colts 1996-98

The Packers passed up Barry Sanders and Deion Sanders to take the uber-hyped offensive lineman from Michigan State.

Mandarich battled injures as well as drug and alcohol problems through three seasons in Green Bay.

only 91????

Don't even recognize a lot of these names, some from older days when I didn't follow the NFL that close, others just obscure players.

100. Joey Harrington   - off to a fabulous start

93 Curtis Enis - one of many highly touted college players who didn't pan out

88 Browning Nagle - uggh

85 Tim Couch - there's my returning Brownies first overall pick, and a decent QB who had nothing to work with in CLE

77 Quincy Carter - awesome pick Jerry

56 Matt Leinart - another overrated college QB

53 Art Schlichter - a bust on multiple levels

50 Rae Carruth - out of prison since 2018

47 William Green - AKA Weedhead Willie another great pick by the new Browns

37 Brian Bosworth - ahh yes the Boz

29 Mike Phipps - before my time as a Browns fan but I've heard he was legendary, in a bad way

18 Spergon Wynn - tons of guys were drafted ahead of Tom Brady, including this guy

7 Maurice Clarrett - never played a down in the NFL, not even in a pre-season game, what a waste of talent

1 JaMarcus Russell - nice pick

But where is Johnny Manziel, Mr Football who flamed out?

Yeah,  that's the only one that really stood out to me as being way off the mark.

I kept scrolling through thinking,  where is JaMarcus Russell.

I wonder what if any current players could make this list. From the Eagles it would be JJ Arcega-Whiteside. He was drafted before Scary Terry and DK Metcalf. He's done nothing since drafted.

He probably wouldn't make the list,  but Hakeem Butler is one of mine.

I should rephrase that. The 100 worst players in the league today would be fun. Based on where he was drafted JJ Arcega-Whiteside would definitely be on that list.

I was referring to Butler,  not Whiteside.

Is he that bad? You've obviously seen more of him.

Since he was on PHI and you don't remember...

But he was a fourth round pick, so not really qualified to be a worst

That's why I said "he probably wouldn't make the list" and "one of mine."

Meaning I bought into the hype,  spent too high a pick on him and held onto him for way too long.

Mitch Trubisky? The Bears traded up and picked him at #2 overall, passing up Mahomes and Watson. He'd probably be #1 on a list of active players, no?

Is he still stealing a paycheck?

56. Matt Leinart

QB; Arizona Cardinals 2006-09, Houston Texans 2011-present

The Cardinals got the former USC standout to be the immediate starting quarterback.

Those thoughts soon changed when they witnessed his inability at the pro level.

Hasn't played a snap or collected an NFL paycheck since 2012.  I believe he does some CFB games.

My first every rookie pick in dynasty, if my memory serves.   DOH.

Weird, I thought I replied to this earlier but I don't see the post now.

Anyway, I was lamenting on why I posted Hakim Butler. I took him at 1.14 in my rookie draft just before Terry McLaurin, AJ Brown, Hollywood Brown & Deebo Samuel. :weird:

My only defense being that I was really after Devin White, who went two picks ahead of me and I panicked going after my "sleeper" knowing that I didn't have another pick until the 3rd round. The pick should have been AJ Brown & stupidly enough, I was worried that I was overvaluing him because he was an Ole Miss guy.
