Now what does Oakland do at QB?

Seriously, when is the last time Davis took a QB? Marinovich. I highly doubt he'll take one now. If we don't resign Collins, who can we sign? Aaron Brooks is a good possibility. Does he go with Walters/Tui battle in camp with a Harrington backup?

I can't find a list of still available FA QB's.

Since Kitna and McCown were signed by the Lions it's possible Harrington's stay in Detroit could be over. I had hoped Brooks would develop into an elite Qb but it just hasn't happened. From my observations of him he seems to have a nonchalant approach to improving and seems to have been satisfied with his game where it's at. I believe he still has the talent to be a good starting QB and we all know sometimes a change of scenery can help a players career. No doubt that the Raiders have the talent at WR for Brooks to be successful. I don't think that Harrington, should he become available, would be the answer in Oakland. I'd like to see them get Brooks and maybe he'll get his head screwed on straight and work to become a productive starting QB. I'm sure some of us fantasy players would like to see that. He did have some success while with the Saints. I just think he lost interest in playing for them.

I agree with this. I think Brooks can be a good QB if given chance and a system that fits him. That said though, I would love to see homeboy Leinart get drafted by the Raiders. He would have all the weapons there to succeed. Will this happen? Most likely not.

Brooks will compete with Vince Young.

Unless Davis decides Brooks is the answer and drafts defense instead.

I don't see Big Al making a run at Harrington, as it was discussed in a previous forum, I could see Harrington going to backup Trent Green.

At this point in time Al Davis wouldn't know a QB if he bit him on the ass. Yes ya'll need Brooks ya"ll deserve Brooks. Can't wait to see Shell's face the first time he throws to a lineman, fumbles the ball while dropping back without getting hit or the clincher walking off the field with a watermelon smile on his face after he has thrown an interception.

I've been wondering what Big Al's been thinking. No way he starts with what he has now. He's spending too much money on Moss not to try and complement him with a deep ball QB.

All of the bigger names are gone. Brooks is out there, and he has the feel of a Raider project.

I think Brooks will be a Raider, They cshould be able to pick him up cheap, and offer him a starting role (no one else will). Then maybe back him up in the draft.

but not in the first round.

If Al Davis follows his normal path, he is an absolute lock to end up with Vince Young. Flashy player coming off a monster year. Grabbing a player that comes off a season which should be impossible to repeat in terms of production or "fame". Young is just such a perfect fit in every way for what Davis wants, regardless of the fact that the Davis magic has worked in reverse for the last decade. Time was when he could pick players on the downside and turn them into good players again. Now he likes to take supposedly great players that never seem as good when they turn into Raiders.

My prediction - Young goes to the Raiders and ends up playing a good part of the season. And he will have some wildly inconsistent games where he actually does roll up some nice numbers and then other weeks (likely most) will make him look like a rookie QB not ready for the next level. The Raiders need players that can sell tickets and get fans in the seats. That is much more likely Vince Young, not Aaron Brooks.

I think drafting a QB for the future AND re-signing Collins or signing Brooks to a 1 or 2 year deal would be a decent patch for 2006....not sure if they have cap room for that.

This is the path that makes sense to me as well. But then again, signing Kitna or McCown made sense to me also. Collins, I don't know if he would sign here for a year knowing its a fill. He can do that in Blt and try to prove he's a good starter instead, and maybe keep the job.

I'm really frustrated by this. McCown was a great pick, with him they could have drafted Defense in rd 1.

The best case I can see left is trading that #1 to ATL for Schuab. Of course, Atl doesn't really see that as a fair trade and Al doesn't see Schaub as a player he wants.

Siiigghhh...

I am a Schaub fan, but no way I would give up a 1st for him either.

Well you know they DID draft a QB for the future last year in the third round.

True but he was injured all of last season and never really worked out with the team. I believe he had some surgery in the offseason. I'd like him more if it were not for some hot QB prospects available in the draft for the Raiders.

I agree. Hopefully for the Raider Nation this will be a once in a decade like chance they got to nab a QB. U might not see another group of QB's like this come out all at once again and be able to grab one so late also. Meaning not top 3 or 4.

Tui is a 5th year guy and Walters a 2nd, there is no way that Davis drafts a rookie and goes into the season with that much youth at QB.

If you think 'scrap heap' player like Gannon, that leads me to a veteran guy like Griese, Brooks. Collins coming back or a Fiedler wouldn't suprise me either.
