dread
Was just checking out the KFAN website to see what other fans were thinking about the draft. One moran was suggesting the Vikings trade their 1st, a 2nd, and a 3rd round pick to the Raiders to move up to take the TE Vernon Davis! :doah: I thought it sounded crazy, but there were others agreeing! Last time I checked, blowing up the draft for a stud running back (see Ricky Williams) didn't pan out. Why would any team do it for a TE? Oh wait...they are the Vikings. Still, with Tice gone, there may be a chance they don't do anything that stupid.

Randall
"With Culpepper out of the picture it will be smooth sailing for the Minnesota Vikings". Love that commercial!
pedroz13
I like it better this way....everyone is down on MN instead of last year when the hype machine had them winning the NFC North by 3 games. There's no way MN would trade that much away for a TE.
Goopster24
They'll compete, how can they not? They got talent on the defensive side and a veteran QB at the helm. Childress will make an offense out that team, no doubt in my mind.

Savage Beatings
Just goes to show you... there's an idiot (or a few) on every board. Of course I'm sure the Vikings are the only team with clueless fans out there. I actually wouldn't mind trading up if we could end up with someone like AJ Hawk. But c'mon we don't even really need a TE right now (certainly not enough to trade up for one). Wiggins still has some mileage left on him. Maybe we'll find a serviceable rookie TE in the later rounds, but not in Round 1. As much as I would love to see Hawk end up a Viking, the trade up to get him would just be too costly. The Vikes will most likely stand pat with there 5 First Day picks, and end up with a decent O-lineman, a decent QB (probably Whitehurst), a decent Lineback, and a couple other forgetable gimmes. Yea, if it weren't for Finks, The Vikes, Bears, and Saints would all suck about the same. Except the Bears had a little history before him. Finks was actually the favorite for Commissioner by some of the old school owners. The new guys didn't go for it so that's how Tags came about. MikesVikes
Jim Finks Finks drafted nineteen of the Bears’ 22 starters in the Super Bowl XX win over New England. Yea, that dude. The dude in the Vikings ring of fame, yea that one. Your right about him playing for the Steelers from 1949-1955. Not what he's famous for, imo, as a 12th round pick. link Also played, scouted, and GM of the Calgary Stampeders. TecmoBeast
i hope they keep those picks, to trade that far up to land a one of the top 3 QBs would cost the whole lot, plus the 07 first... that's too much. All those picks are pretty powerful if used right. I do like the idea of trading for Schaub though, half the league sees potential in this guy. If Schaub cost 1.17, then so be it. He's NOT famous for losing 4 SB's with the Vikes. BTW - he also ran the Cubs when they made the playoffs in '84.
