Joined in June 98.  Have no idea whether I ever made it to the Hall of Fame, I suspect I would have remembered if I had. I'm glad to see I haven't been forgotten.  I passed some very very fun hours typing into this particular bit bucket.  Arguing with Big Red, staging the great debate (and losing), winning the first Death Pool.

Been a long time since I posted here.  I went with a lot of the other oldtimers to the Sidelines, as a sort of protest against going commercial, but I seem to remember we couldn't quite recapture the magic.  The old Huddle had just the right size, the Sidelines was too small of a sandbox.  I suspect the Huddle might have grown too large now, just taking a cruise around.  Might not have the same gestalt.

Thought I might check in and see who's still around.  Might even hang out for a while if it seems entertaining enough.  Don't play Fantasy Football anymore, just couldn't stand being let down week after week.  But then, the football was only the starting point for the antics on this site back then.

Hey Grits,

Save me some time weeding back through all these posts: who did you used to be? I see you've done yourself (and by extension all us original huddlers) proud by sticking around all these years.

Where's the hot place to talk now to avoid all the "Should I start Willis McGahee" posts?

For historical context, some highlights to guage your participation

1997 - rudimentary message board which was mostly me using an alias asking myself questions with occasional commentary from Big Country.  :D

1998 - The first UBB board in all of fantasy football  :D

1999 - August to October was the Delphi fiasco. :D  Back to UBB    :D

2000 - Great traffic, losing money and killing ourselves to do it. Last free year.  :violin:

2001 - Decided to go one more year with members only and if no one signed up, we'd still kill ourselves for the season and then very, very  sadly shut the door. Pay site as of July, 2001.  :D  :D  :D

2002 -    :D

2003 -    :D

2004 -    :D

I payed my fee to get info from The Huddle on Sept. 7 2004.  I know the exact date because I signed up for the message boards right after I payed my dues.  I got into a political argument with Skins, Atomic CEO and a few other libs within five minutes of joining.  Atomic had just posted up some bs about President Bush's service in the Texas Guard and I believe he and Skins were using Dan Rather as their sources of info :D .

God you guys have good memories. You still don't have it quite right, though.

Either of you smart guys remember who named me Brainy Smurf?

My original name wasn't even my worst mistake, though. It was the time I posted a porn video of a woman who looked like my wife. Then some wiseacre started reposting it for newbies and saying it was my wife. I should say ex-wife, we're divorced now. She turned out to be a psycho. Funny, she never told me when we got engaged.

I do remember that a whole bunch of people got names at the same time. I'm thinking Grid had something to do with it, but I could be off.
