Menudo
You spelled Nicaragua wrong. Don't ask me why, but, that made me Nevermind, you were talking about my Sig. I was giving you too much credit. I thought you just saw that there was a lot to read, and was being randomly funny. I should have known better. Now that I'm working at home, I find myself having more time for movies, among other things. Now, I don't go to the movies much anymore, and I don't rent DVD's or get PayPerView often, so, these are ones that I waited for on the pay channels. Also, I taped some older movies that I've just never gotten around to seeing. Here are the recent ones I've seen, and my thoughts: Analyze This I was actually expecting more from this movie. I love Deniro, I love mob movies, and I love Deniro in mob movies. This was a mob comedy, but, it just didn't do it for me. It had some mildly funny moments and wasn't terrible, but, still, a disappointment for me. 6.0 out of 10 Bridge to Teribithia I loved this movie. I'm a kid at heart, and this movie reminded me of what it was like to be a kid again and use your imagination for innocent fun (my imagination is now used for naughty fun ) I thought the two young, lead actors in this movie were phenomenal, and the girl is going to be a future hottie. The girl that played the little sister was adorable as well. This movie had a ton of heart, and moved this old sap to some tears. 8.5 Blades of Glory I love comedies. I love Will Ferrell comedies. I loved Napoleon Dyamite. Due to those things, I was really looking forward to this one. I came away mildly disappointed. It certainly had it's laughs and was a fun movie, but, I can't put it up there to the level of Anchorman or Old School. Still, an enjoyable movie with some good laugh. Oh, and getting to see Jenna Fischer (Pam from the Office) in a revealing outfit was very cool 7.5 Cars Very funny animated movie. Definitely had it's fair share of laughs. 8 Employee of the Month This one wasn't too great. It had a couple of funny moments, but, they were in the previews (This is an '81 Honda, How Dare You ) Jessica Simpson (:bounce:) (:bounce:) was nice to look at, but, overall, just average. 5 Alpha Dog I really liked this movie. Justin Timberlake was surprisingly good in his role, and there were some hot girls to look at. This is based on a true story, and I thought it was very well done. 7.5 Night At The Museum I wasn't expecting much from this one, but, I found it to be an entertaining and funny movie. I still find Ben Stiller to be pretty damned funny. 7.5 The Princess Bride I had seen parts of this move before, but, never the entire thing. I really enjoyed it and found it very funny. 8.5 The Davinci Code This was one that I was expecting not to like too much, but, I ended up really enjoying it. The time seemed to fly by and I never got bored with it. 7.5 Kiss, Kiss, Bang, Bang I didn't hear much about this movie, but, with the good actors in it and what I saw in the previews, I gave it a shot. I absolutely LOVED it. Great acting by Val Kilmer & Robert Downey Jr. Michelle Monaghan was extremely hot Great plot twists and a solid ending. 8.5 300 Awesome !!! Simply awesome. Not quite up to par with Braveheart and Gladiator (two of my all-time favorites), but, unique and entertaining. I loved it. 9.0 That is all I can think of for the recent ones. I've got these on my Tivo, waiting to be watched: The Black Dahlia, Prarie Home Companion, Deja Vu, The Painted Veil, Beerfest, The Prestige, The Fountain, Wild Hogs, The Untouchables, The Astronaut Farmer, The Number 23 Well, there it is.....what can I say, I was bored. The Black Dahlia wasn't near as good as I expected. Don't expect a great movie & you'll be alright. Wild Hogs was much better then I expected. It was quite funny. I haven't seen any of the others but I heard good things about Deja Vu. Edit to add: I saw The Prestige and it was very good as well. The Irish Doggy
The Black Dahlia, Prarie Home Companion, Well, there it is.....what can I say, I was bored. And you will continue into boredom if you watch these movies. Run away. If you are a Keeler fan, maybe do the PHC, but Black Dahlia is just a horrible movie - especially the last half when it descends into complete crappiness. Oh, and getting to see Jenna Fischer (Pam from the Office) in a revealing outfit was very cool 7.5 Funny, despite John Heder who is really one note and we should soon see drop off the face of the movie scene. He'll probably end up in TV. 7 out of 10[/b] Cars Very funny animated movie. Definitely had it's fair share of laughs. 8 Agree. one of the best Pixar efforts and fairly subtle, which I appreciate. Employee of the Month This one wasn't too great. The time seemed to fly by and I never got bored with it. 7.5 Disagree strongly. This was a steaming plie of dung. What a waste of a good book and talent. 3 out of 10 Kiss, Kiss, Bang, Bang I didn't hear much about this movie, but, with the good actors in it and what I saw in the previews, I gave it a shot. I absolutely LOVED it. Great acting by Val Kilmer & Robert Downey Jr. Michelle Monaghan was extremely hot Great plot twists and a solid ending. 8.5 Very underrated film. Skilly
I may get bombed here for saying this, but I thought "Hot Rod" was freaking hillarious. Stars Adam Sandberg from SNL and Ian McShane (Deadwood). I wouldn't go out and buy the movie, but it was well worth the rental.

Egret
How different is the movie from the book ? I liked the movie so much that if the book is different enough, I might check it out. The book focuses more on the relationship than the fantasy. The fantasy stuff is definitely in there, but there is more of a focus on Jesse's feelings. The author wrote it to help her son cope when his best friend was struck by lightning and killed.
